I have EasySocial "User's Media SEF Format" set as default.
Thought that would allow for clean url's.

Though I just noticed that we are getting url's like this;

website.com/community/%E9%85%8D%E7%BD%AE/item/6-free-course-student
instead of;
website.com/community/free-course-student

Another example is this;

website.com/community/%E6%B5%81/item/11310
instead of;
website.com/community/11310

I know we have sh404 set as;
"use router.php"

Is there something I can try to get this corrected?

On a side-note:
Is there also a way within EasySocial to not have all of the community pages crawled?
As I have just noticed that there is a lot of community user pages showing up on google, but they are set to private. Also the meta descriptions are all the same..

Thought there was some setting I missed to change it so it is not crawled..
And wanted to ask, since this ticket is about url's anyways..

Thanks for your time.

to filter out pages to get not crawled you could use 4SEO:

May I know where did yo saw the URL website.com/community/%E9%85%8D%E7%BD%AE/item/6-free-course-student ?

Can you share with us how to reproduce this?

From what I checked those indexed pages, Google already cached your web pages since February.

Then I tried to view the page source for those user profile pages, the description metadata tag showing different content.

I believe you need to let Google recrawl your webpage then only can update it to show the final description content.

Also, the robots metadata you just changed recently or before February?

@n00bster, thanks, that's a good suggestion.
Actually, big fan of Weeblr and have both sh404 and 4SEO.
Haven't spent too much time there as so many features.
I did finally begin to utilize the analyze pages correctly...
As of now I was able to get it so "/community/{*}" is not being crawled.
Not sure that would eliminate it from being sent to sitemap; so I excluded from sitemap, as well.
Then ontop of that also created a disallow in robot.tx.
Perhaps, this is an over-kill, but after seeing over 5,000 user pages being crawled on Google I began to freak-out...

So, yes to answer @Arlex

Both the robot.txt file, along with exclusions within 4SEO were completed beginning April, I believe.
Guess I will just have to wait for Google to re-index... at first, I just didn't get it, as the community menu item was set to (noindex, nofollow), but it went deeper than that I guess....

For issue #1 @Arlex.

Sure, here is a quick visual illustration..
https://www.screencast.com/t/Pqo0RBcVmpj

Basically, all url's within EasySocial are created with numbers or items appended to it.
Even the user groups are the same way using item and a number, instead of a clean URL..

Actually, it is the correct URL format for the single profile type view layout https://kissielts.com/community/配置/item/6-free-course-student

And this translation word "配置" translated by COM_EASYSOCIAL_ROUTER_PROFILES this language constants.

The reason why some of the user profile URLs show numbering is because their real name uses Chinese character unless enable "SEF Urls To Use IDs" this setting so the user profile permalink format will be showing site.com/community/userId-realName but this append id not only apply for the user profile permalink only, it will apply for the group, event, page and etc.
