Hi StackIdeas,

First I would like to great you! Latest EasySocial seems to be very fast in combination with Joomla 3.3.0, especially during the time of traffic spikes and high number of simultaneous connections!

Again, I am hitting a very odd issue. It appear that EasySocial activity stream have completely replaced Joomla 404 pages. Every missing link and page seems to be redirected to Activity Stream. Here are some examples:

http://www.webmaisterpro.com/questions.html
http://www.webmaisterpro.com/zarko/profile.html
etc...

I've migated to Joomla 3.3.0 and there aren't any other problem excepts this one, which I think is pretty big issue.

Any idea why 404 pages are completely replaced by EasySocial stream?

I decided to uninstall everything and made clean install after that, but it didn't fix the problem.

Hello Kaloyan,

I have added some small fixes on your site, could you play around with the site and see if it works fine? It will throw a 404 for an unknown view / layout.

Hello Kaloyan,

This is actually something that we are still investigating in. The problem only happens when you set EasySocial as the "frontpage" menu item because EasySocial doesn't actually know whether the content that you are trying to access is a valid account or not. For instance, if you access http://www.webmaisterpro.com/hello-cruel-world.html , there could be a possibility that you want to actually display a filter with this title.

Hi Mark,

I thought that this might be the issue. Hopefully there will be a fix or workaround soon. No doubt that this can create a lot self duplicate content and to be honest it look like "black had SEO" techinique from the past.

Thanks Mark, this will do! Highly appreciate you help during the weekend. The fix work like a charm!

I've checked few of my customers websites, it seems that many other extensions are facing the same issue. This makes me think that the problem comes from Joomla, not by extensions. Am I right?

Hello Kal,

It's not really an "issue" with the extensions per-se but it's really because of the way "SEF" urls are being reversed. It's extremely tedious to test every single request made on the site because your URL could actually be http://site.com/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10

You need to test each and every segments The reason that we don't is simply because:

1. There's already a canonical link, added on the headers and this is what Google has been preaching about. Unless they are going against their words by not respecting canonical urls.

2. Heavy! Simply because a spammer tries to do funky stuffs with your URLs, it does not mean that we need to run a test on each segments of the URL.

3. Tedious! For every single view, we need to explicitly check each segments and what sort of data is coming in before deciding whether or not to render a 404 page.
