Hi, just curious...
Is this app for connecting iGuru from iJoomla with EasySocial?
So, that our members can see when they have taken a course within our site using iGuru?
Not to certain, as it just says, guru courses and not iguru....
thanks

I believe so, but it looks like the developer is no longer around. Will remove them from the App Store.

Since you’re taking it down, Is it possible to test the apps to see if it works with iGuru?

We do not have access to their apps and we do not have a copy of their apps

Even if we did have a copy of their apps, it would be bad for us to share their apps without their permissions

Any chance you can send contact information over..?
I like to see if this is possible.
Having the ability to have student activities streamed onto the social platform would definitely create more momentum.

Hm, to be honest I don't have their contact. I think the app developer is from a different company.

Did you ever get anywhere with this?

I too am interested. Plus, be good to have Komento embedded inside Guru courses/lessons

We don't really have any confirmation on this yet but if you are looking at integrating Komento with Guru, it would be great to provide us with the Guru extension so that we can try to see if we can integrate with Guru.

By the way, the lack of update from Guru seems to be a concern by most of our customers.

Haven't got to this project as of yet.
But still interested in an EasySocial integration, in case you wish to split the costs.

And Mark is so correct, iGuru doesn't get updated much. Although, this isn't a great thing; it also isn't terrible news.
As any updates we do on this end, should remain functional.
Considering they won't have updates that can override anything.
I do know Joomlart is working on ensuring iGuru is compatible with Joomla 4.

The tricky part when it comes to dealing with "native app" is we need to build an API as an interface to the app since there is no way for the app to communicate with the database directly.

This is why to develop this functionality on the native app is and will be costly since we need to:

1. Work on the native app itself to develop these functionality

2. Develop a REST API that interfaces the app

I understand and appreciate all that you all do... That is why I didn't push this option any longer.
Besides, now that I have integrated it with PayPlans, I can assign badges and other things.
Which is quite helpful and the best resolve for this particular request.

You know@Mark perhaps the AMAZING team @Stackideas might work on an alternative to iGuru.

That would be truly AMAZING!

You know, life-after covid has given the online course realm a good swift kick into hyper-drive.
Could be beneficial and you know, you already have my support...

Apologies for the delay, have been away from work for the past week. Maybe if you guys could start a new thread on what you would expect in a basic LMS and what sort of functionality the base LMS should have?

Hi all,

i believe that LMS and all education solutions have lot to do next years, in the actual corona crisis all is gone online especialy education, lot lot lot of solutions are bornd, i am personaly using an external one independant of joomla, with a custom domain, and its doing what it should do. If we can get some thing created by the SI house and naturally compatible with all the other ext then we'll just be full of joy

Input from other thread about this..

"...start our very own LMS if there is not a single one out there that solves your problems"

Well then be as good as WP LearnDash then https://www.learndash.com/ you have all building blocks to also let site owners and their customers commercialize these courses etc and Wordpress LearnDash is very successful too. that could be your guideline to start with.

Do any of you guys have a sample working site that has any LMS installed? Just want to have a brief idea of how you guys run and manage the site.

We have a working test site; which you can toy around if you think that will help @Mark.
Also, can create a short video screen share walk-through on how we use our current LMS.
Let me know and I can send you via email..
If you need details of the test working site, you can contact Manisha.
As it was her recommendation to create one and a good one indeed.
(can't believe it took this long to create a backup test site, considering everything going on in the site).

Thanks Ulysses!

Just to keep you guys updated on Guru, one of our customer sent us a copy of Guru so that we can evaluate to see if we could roll out integrations with EasySocial. We have spent almost a week evaluating and it seems like the very core of Guru, there are not many triggers around and there is really nothing we can do to extend the functionality of Guru to our extensions.

According to the customer, Guru is due for an update for J4 and we will see if there is anything we can do to provide patches / hacks to the customer and they can submit them to Guru for them to consider adding it into their core.
