I have tried in several different ways to get the profiles to make any badges received visible to the public.
However, none of them seem to work.
Is there anything special that needs to be done outside of enabling
What I mean was that the privacy you pointed to does not control the user who can view their achievement badge stream item.

This kind of achievement badge stream item will be under "other items", so you need to ensure that your existing profile type privacy "Default rule for other items." - "Who can view my other items." set to everyone.

And ensure that you have ticked this checkbox Tick the checkbox to reset all user's default privacy under this profile. ( This will also reset previous privacy settings of items belong to the users.) before clicking the save button, it will apply the current profile type privacy setting to the existing user account on the site.

From what I checked, this "achievement" privacy only restricted users to see them what complete achievement badge they achieved on their profile.

In other words, the user still can see the achievement stream item on the user dashboard in public.

No sorry, I should have been more clear.
I am talking about on the community stream, not the profile page.
We like to have it visible to everyone when someone achieves a badge, but as of now only registered users can see other users achieve a badge on the wall.

I was always under the impression that "Tick the checkbox to reset all user's default privacy under this profile." would reset everything to its original state before we made the changes.. Instead it pre-dates anything previously, genius
