User found bug!

A user can use a permalink, and then reuse the same permalink for a group page. If they do the group becomes totally inaccessible, it just links to the user's account. Neither shows a conflict when testing the permalink.

Now resolved on my site, but confident you can reproduce the error locally, if not let me know and we can see if I've got something jiggered somewhere.
Hi Steve,
I could not replicate the issue locally even if I use the same permalinks for user and group. The ID number of the user/group will be appended to the front of the permalink. For example 843-event1(user) vs 1-event1(event).

One of the reason the group link redirects to another page could be due to some misconfigurations in the menu structure.
Can you provide us both the url of both the user and the group before it was fixed so we can compare? Thanks.

Hi Raymond

The links were:

http://theendzone.co/groups/35-essexbloodbowl.html
http://theendzone.co/1011-essexbloodbowl.html

I realise that these are two different urls, but the problem I found was that because he had used the permalink essexbloodbowl in his profile, and then reused it in his group, the group was impossible to access - clicking any link to it took the browser to his profile.

In fact, I've just discovered the same scenario, live right now, with a different user and group. See for yourself.

The link takes you to the owner's profile, because they have the same permalink on their profile as on the group. If I change one, it's fixed.

It seems like you provided that FTP login credentials is not correct.

Try download my attached file and replace into JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/router.php
