We are having an issue with one of our forums.
When someone publishes a forum post and others reply, for some reason anyone is allowed to edit their reply.
The forum is set for registered users only and the ACL is set properly so that only the person that makes the reply can edit it.
However, even if we turn off the editing completely it still shows the edit button and a registered user can edit anyone else's reply. This has already resulted in a major incident as this site/forum is used for a Firefighters union.
I had to use CSS to hide the edit button just to mitigate the problem.
Do you have any ideas on what is going on or if we missed a setting?
Thanks.
Hi there,

Can you double check in the moderation section if each of the joomla group have permission Edit Sitewide Replies http://take.ms/He33A

First of all thanks...that was the issue.
But I have to say I don't understand why that is a default setting. I can't imagine that anyone would want to allow other people to edit someone else's reply. This seems like a confusing and useless setting.

Hey,

This is more of a "global moderator" option where as a site admin, you could delegate tasks to trusted members. This isn't enabled by default unless someone explicitly enables it. I tested this with a fresh installation and all the permissions were set to "Disabled", http://take.ms/RDxMw
