Hi,

1. I'll like to setup Usergroups in EasyDiscuss that is different from default Joomla Usergroups. For example I want to setup a Moderator group that can moderate posts. I also want to have certain usergroups to have have access to specific forums. Whats the best way to set this up? Is this what "Roles" are for?

2. Second question - I want these ED-specific moderators to be able to moderate only in the frontend and not have back-end access. Is this possible?
Hi Philip,

Please find my answers for your inquiries below.

The only possible way to achieve this is for you to create a different ACL usergroup for specific users and then assign that usergroup as moderator from easydiscuss ACL settings. You can also utilize easydiscuss categories permission settings for specific category that you want each of your user group or user to moderate the discussion on that category.

2. Second question - I want these ED-specific moderators to be able to moderate only in the frontend and not have back-end access. Is this possible?

You can try to follow my suggestion above in order to achieve this as well.

Ezrul,

I tried your suggestion, but the ACL does not allow creation of usergroups, but only allow specific user permissions. Am I missing something?

Hi Philip,

I am sorry for the confusion here. Unfortunately it is not possible to create a custom usergroup for easydiscuss only as you still need to use joomla usergroup in order to achieve this.
