The time stamp on the postings is always 8 hrs behind. My Joomla Time Zone is set to California time and my Server Time is also set correctly.

Then also, when my subscribers get a notification of a new posting, the time stamp on the email is also 8hrs behind. So it gets buried under all the more recent emails even though it was just sent.

Can you offer some advice or suggestions please?

I am unable to give backend access or ftp access because my site is internal for a company and only access through VPN

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a screenshot of the posting time stamp area of the posting.

Thanks
Hey Tuan Nguyen,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply,

Do you mean when the user publish a new discussion on your site, that time date will not show your current time?

It would be best if you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can able to troubleshoot on this issue as you described at above. because that was hard to us troubleshoot this without access in your site.

Yes, your screenshot is accurate. The time date does not show the current time.

Have you seen this issue before?

But I am not sure how to give you backend access because my site is on a internal network and only accessible through VPN.

Can we setup a webex to share my screen and you can take control?

Thanks

Hey Tuan,

I've tried in my test site, if I set NewYork timezone in my Joomla test site, then I submit a new post, it will show 13 hours behind Kuala Lumpur(Malaysia time) e.g. 4.35am

If I change back to `Kuala Lumpur` timezone, it will display with my current time. e.g. 5.35pm

May i know is it every your site user also hitting this issue?

Can you provide us some screenshot regarding with your backend > system > global configuration > server > Server Time Zone

And one of your site user profile timezone settings?

Thanks for your help. I want to update you as I have been able to 50% resolve this issue.

I have been able to have the postings to display the correct time date (current time) when posting. I did this by:
- My Server Time has always been correct, so I left that alone
- BUT my Joomla Time Zone was set to Los Angeles (causing the time dates to show up 8hrs behind current time).
- So I changed my Joomla Time Zone to UTC and now my postings display the correct time (maybe having my Server Time as US West Coast Time and also Joomla Time Zone as LA was redundant and caused the incorrect time? not sure, it that is resolved now).

So the part that is not resolved is, even though the postings display the correct time. My email notifications of a new posting is still 8hrs behind, therefore it gets buried under emails even though it was just sent.

Do you have any idea why the email still displays the wrong time?

Thanks again for your help on this. I really need to figure this out. But to answer your questions:

- I cannot confirm how many people are facing this issue, but I am so I am sure at least some of my users are also
- My User profile timezone settings are all: Default

Also, I am using Plesk as my server manager.

And to push out the email notifications for new postings. I have to go to,

Components > EasyDiscuss > Settings > Email Parser > then click on "Cron URL for your site"

I never correctly setup the cronjob. Could this be an issue of the timestamp?

How do I correctly set up the automated cronjob in Plesk?

Thanks again

Sorry for another posting but here is a screenshot of the Plesk options, there is no "cronjob" option like in cpanel. I think it might be the "Event Manager" option. But what command line do need to place in?

Hey Tuan,

Sorry but not really sure if I understand your issue here. Do you mean that the timestamp in the email itself is showing 8 hours behind for emails?

There could be a possibility that these emails were actually already generated earlier (with the wrong timestamp). Does this happen to new postings ?

Yes, the email time itself is still 8 hrs behind even though the posting time date is current.

I just did a few new test postings and to see if it is an issue of already generated emails. But my new postings still have incorrect email timestamp and correct posting timestamp.

This is so frustrating, I really appreciate your help on this but how can we fix this?

Do I need to edit some php files, config file, or change some settings in the component or in Joomla settings itself?

Thanks again

Hey Tuan,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Sorry but I am actually a little lost here.

When you mean "email timestamp", do you mean the email client, or the contents of the email? As far as I recall, there is no timestamp being generated in the email content for EasyDiscuss.

I mean that when I (or my users) get an email notification from EasyDiscuss of a new posting. An email will always have a timestamp associated with it. But the issue is that the timestamp shows as hours behind of the current/correct time. So then it gets buried under other emails even though it was just sent. So my users are getting the inaccurate timestamps and might not see it because it gets buried under other recent emails

I have made up a image from screenshots to help illustrate my point.

Thanks

Did you try with a different email client? We never set any "timestamp" when sending out emails.
