Hi guys - can you please confirm that easydiscuss 4.0.10 is compatible with the latest Joomla, 3.6.3?

I've been getting the following error, and am trying to work out what's causing it. All looks fine in the back end, but for some reason easydiscuss won't load.

Hey Steve,

It seems like that was known issue from the Joomla 3.6.3 version, you can refer on this thread -> https://issues.joomla.org/tracker/joomla-cms/12460 but now I am not really sure whether that is 3rd party plugins causing this or not perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so I can better have a check?

May i know do you revert to Joomla 3.6.2 now? Because it seems work fine now when I access your forums page.

By the way, Joomla will release 3.6.4 version today :

Cheers Arlex - yeah, I created a fresh install of easydiscuss and the 3.6.3 install didn't affect it, so I figured it's something else. In the end I found a guide that said I needed to replace /libraries/vendor/ with the previous version downloaded directly from Joomla, and that did the trick.

Whatever it is took my easydiscuss offline completely, though the rest of the site was unaffected - fingers crossed it's fixed in 3.6.4!

Hey Steve,

I've tried that temporary fix before, but that is not good at all, if you save something from your Joomla backend > system > global configuration , it will make your configuration.php file to empty data then you have no longer access your frontend and backend again.

I would strongly recommended you revert back to the original code from this file .../libraries/vendor/joomla/registry/src/Registry.php

And I also received one of our customer reported with the same error from their site, then we found out some where stored uncompleted JSON string from his database data, then causing this error.

Perhaps you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so I can help you check on this now?

Hey Steve,

You're welcome.

Thanks for getting back to us, I already found out, it seems like one of the user data is not stored correct JSON string, you can take a look of my attached screenshot below.

The reason why it only happen on Joomla version 3.6.3 , is because Joomla already updated some of the code if detected those invalid JSON string when load the user on the page, it will directly throw this error on the page.

So this issue is not related Joomla and Easydiscuss component, it should work fine now when you update to Joomla 3.6.3 or latest new release 3.6.4 later on.
