Hello,
I created a category on my site that I want to appear to the public. I also want posts inside (and post titles) inside that category to appear to the public. However, I do not want public users to be able to click a post or read a post inside this category - they will have to be registered on the site to do that. How can I control this?

I see if change permission of category to registered users only, it hides the category from the public - which I don't want that - I still want to the category to show up and post title to show up - but public can't access the posts.
Hi there,

If I understand your question correctly, you would like to show those discussion titles in each of your existing categories area under this page (https://ukbouncehouse.com/forum) right (you can refer on my attached screenshot below)?

If yes, unfortunately that is not possible to achieve this at this point of time.

Regarding with your second question, if the category permission already set to public, user can able to access it. This means public user can view these discussion post directly without login and currently there is no any setting to configure it to enable only registered user can able to view these discussion post.

Having said that, if you require us to perform the customization for you, you can always request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

Hi Irwin,
Is is possible to control certain users from being able to see posts or categories based on a badge(s) earned?

My goal is to have a category on my forum that everyone can see but you must register an account on my site to access it (forcing users to create accounts on my site). Does this make more sense?

Hey there,

Unfortunately that is not possible to achieve this.
Currently only possible to set certain Joomla user group from the category permission section which able/unable to see the post, the system will not check for the user whether they got badge(s) earned or not.

My goal is to have a category on my forum that everyone can see but you must register an account on my site to access it (forcing users to create accounts on my site). Does this make more sense?

I always believe different user who use Easydiscuss component in their website also have their own specific requirement, but based on your current requirement, unfortunately that is not possible to achieve this following functionality :

1. Display discussion post title under categories page.
2. Allow public user can able to see these discussion post on categories page but unable to allow them to access.
3. When the public user click on these discussion post on categories page, it will redirect user to login or registration page.
4. Configure certain group of users able to see posts or categories based on a badge(s) earned.

If you really need this functionality, I would suggest you that request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com regarding this customisation request, because in order to achieve your current requirement it will involved a lots of PHP files modifications.

Thanks for understanding.
