Just a query regarding the easydiscuss app for Easysocial

I notice when i do a test forum topic , it appears as it should in the easysocial stream using the application installed in easysocial.

However i noticed it sets the privacy for such an item as REGISTERED USERS. Is there a way to changing this to MY FRIENDS. I presume it means whenever anyone creates a forum post (and i presume the same for easyblog using its app for easysocial) it will display on all registered users streams even if they are not interested in the forums.

I cant find a setting for this in the app?
So if someone creates a discussion and i am NOT Friends with them it will appear in the EVERYONE Filter on the stream
But If Someone creates a discussion and i AM Friends with them it will appear in Me And Friends Stream for myself

Yes, that is default behaviour currently, and we do not have an option to allow user to choose the "My friend", "Only Me" privacy during compose a new discussion.

Hi there,

Currently, there is no easy way to achieve this.

Currently how it works is if the post in EasyDiscuss has been set to private, user is not allowed to access the post from its category in Easydiscuss and the post in EasyDiscuss is pending, the stream item for it will can't be viewed.

So Let me clarify this then:

Easyblog obviously allows you to choose your audience in the post i.e all users, my friends etc

EasyDiscuss Does not its either public or private.

If set to public which will be the majority of the cases, Will a stream item appear on everyones feed on the site. Or only if your are friends with them will it appear on the stream.

The default Stream Listing is My Friends and Me, so if it only appears when selecting the Everyone Filter in ES then thats fine.

Hey Andy,

Let me explain further regarding how the system determine this "New discussion" stream should appear on the stream listing for the current logged in user.

Those discussion stream will respect the permission as what you configure from backend > Easydiscuss > Categories > Permission section. (screenshot : https://take.ms/QOHs4m)

For example, if you set "View Discussions in this Category" every user group user also can able to view the discussion, this "New discussion" stream item will appear for everyone on the site. In other word, this stream will appear on the "Everyone" filter on the Easysocial user dashboard, unless that discussion created by the current logged in user, it will appear this "New discussion" on the "Me & Friends" filter.

If the discussion is under private, this "New discussion" stream item will not appear to other user.

And if the user feel annoying when see those "New discussion" stream item on the "Everyone" filter, they can able to hide this similar stream item (screenshot : https://take.ms/KLdM7).

Okay so i think we are on the same page here

All users are registered theres no guests.

And only relating to public discussions -

So if someone creates a discussion and i am NOT Friends with them it will appear in the EVERYONE Filter on the stream
But If Someone creates a discussion and i AM Friends with them it will appear in Me And Friends Stream for myself
