Hello,
I ave some doubts about the ACL settings
(not the category ACL, the main setting: https://mysite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&view=acls)

Do the settings of a certain user group affect all the children groups?

And if not, what happens if a user is in more than one group and settings are different for each of them?
This is the first time I look into this and I noticed for example that:
Group A > is allowed to vote replies
Group B > is NOT allowed

and I have several users inserted in both groups.

Also, I am not sure I uderstand how these main ACL settings interact with the single category ACL settings.

Thank you
Hi Niccolo,
Do the settings of a certain user group affect all the children groups?
Each user group has their own ACL settings so no, the setting in the parent group does not affect the children group.
what happens if a user is in more than one group and settings are different for each of them?
As long as one of the user's usergroup has an ACL enabled, the user will be able to perform the action.

This means that to restrict the user from the action, the ACL has to be disabled in all of the user's usergroups.
Also, I am not sure I uderstand how these main ACL settings interact with the single category ACL settings.
What sort of interaction are you referring to?

Thank you for the explanations.
What sort of interaction are you referring to?

I mean what happens for example
if a user is in group A which in main ACL settings is NOT allowed to post new replies (Post new replies > NO)
but then in Category B acl settings that same group is allowed to post replies (Reply to discussions in this category > YES)

Hey Niccolo,

Category ACL is checked first, if the category allows it, then usergroup ACL will be checked next. If category does not allow it, then the action is not allowed(regardless of usergroup ACL).

If usergroup does not allow, then the action is not allowed(regardless of category).
