We're unable to upload/post any images on the blog and are getting the "Invalid Response from Server" error. I've read the other posts related to this error and haven't been able to diagnose it on our own, even though I've had our UI developer looking into it. I've set up EasyBlog on other GoDaddy-hosted sites with no issues.

We host our own site and our security guy has it pretty locked down...I'm doubting he's going to want to open it up for FTP access in order to diagnose. Do you have any other ways you can help with this issue? A list of areas we might look at, for example?

Thanks for your help.

1. Do you have Admin Tools installed? If yes do you have DFI shield enabled? If yes again then you can add a WAF Exception to have this issue solved

2. Did you install GD in your server? You can check by going to backend -> Site -> System Info -> Php Information. here search for GD if not then contact your webhoster and have them install this for you

Hi Adelene,

I've run into the same error "Invalid Response from Server" when attempting to upload images on easyblog, but it does not affect Safari. Chrome, Firefox and IE all return this error. If it is a server-side issue, why does it not affect Safari? I use hostgator for my site and according to spec GD is installed, but I am confirming.

I also have Admin Tools installed. I've edited the WAF form, how would I add an exemption for this?

Thank you,

Bernard

Hostgator confirmed that GD is installed. Can you let me know how to configure a WAF exception to correct this issue. And one more thing, I already have DFI shield disabled.

Thank you,
Bernard

Hello Bernard,

You can go to WAF exception in your Admin Tools and add new extension "com_easyblog" . If you facing any issue, do provide us your backend and FTP so we can perform this for you. Please advise.

Thank you, Nick.

The WAF Exception has three fields, Component, View and Query Parameter. Do I only fill the Component with "com_easyblog" and leave the rest blank?

I've been seeing a lot of hack attempts at joomla sites I've developed. Is it safe to exclude EasyBlog from all forms of firewall protection?

Hi Nick, this is an update.

After adding the com_easyblog exception to WAF, now Chrome on the Mac can upload images. However, none of the Windows browsers work can upload. I need to fix this because my client is on Windows. Any suggestions?

Hello Bernard,

I've tried to upload from the frontend and the picture is successfully uploaded: http://screencast.com/t/lVu0GWoe . You might want to clear your browser cache and see how it goes.

Hi Nick,

I assumed it would work, but I gave it a try on Windows Firefox and IE, after clearing the cache, and it continues to generate that error. A user coming from NY is also seeing this issue with Chrome on the Mac. I thought this might be a permissions issue, so I created a new account with the same permissions as the NY guy, but I was able to upload with the Mac.

I need some suggestions. I saw your "Hello" image. Did you do upload with a Mac or Windows?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Bernard,

I'm using Chrome on Windows. I'm also tried using Firefox on Windows. It's successfully uploaded.

Hi Nick,

I thought this was solved because it worked on my desktop computer when we last checked in. One of the bloggers however was never able to upload, he is just now getting to me, and the error he gets is "File extension error." Even on my desktop stopped working using Chrome, I get the same error. Safari continues to work on my desktop, but not on my laptop. None of the browsers work on my laptop. Also, when I tried it on Windows 8.1 just now I get "Invalid response from server."

Keep in mind that Admin Tools already has DFIShield disabled, and com_easyblog is entered as a WAF Exception.

I'm sorry to say this is now causing a delay in the launching of the blog, so it's become more urgent. Please tell me I won't need to resort to using Wordpress for Joomla!!

I've re-enabled the account provided to check out the site.

Thanks in advanced.

Bernard

Hello Bernard,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The file that your blogger tried to upload may not be valid. Please send me a copy for the file he tried to upload. Please advice.

Thanks!

Hi Adelene, Thank you for the fast response.

This happens with all image files we try to upload, jpeg, jpg. Attached are two we've tried.

Hello Bernard,

So sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have corrected the issue for you. This is because by default .jpeg files are not part of the allowed extensions. I have added this so now the uploads will work. Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Hi Adelene,

Thank you, it looks like we've made progress. I can now upload with my Mac using Chrome. I no longer get the "File extension error." But I continue to get the "Invalid response from server" on windows, Chrome and Internet Explorer.

What do you think?

Thanks!

I need to add more to this. On my laptop, a Mac, using Chrome I get "Invalid response from server" as well. But it works on Safari just as in my earlier test on my desktop Mac. I am running OS X Maverick on both computers with Chrome 31, the latest.
