The news about JReviews/EasySocial integration is excellent (2 great products) and raises a question about Categories/Tags in EasyBlog (as well as EasyDiscuss).

The Category and Tag systems in EB/ED are currently separate from Joomla AND each other, making search for content from 3rd party template modules impossible without modifications by the template provider (Joomla/K2 are the standard optiions).

I have been waiting (very) patiently since June/July for Joomlart to update their modules and allow access to EB content via category/tag (promised with August template) as EB is their preferred blog component but frustration makes the JReviews own template an option.

However I wondered: (any of the below questions):

1. If the same problem of lack of access to EB/ED via category/tags would apply with IReview 2 (the JReviews template)?
2. If Stackideas will be bringing their category/tag systems together into one unified category/tag system throughout all their products?
3. If Stackideas will be providing a plugin (similar to the current search plugin) to make the EB/ED category/tags available in the core Joomla component?

Questions 2 and 3 are my preferred options, a unified Category system and Tag system across all Stackideas products that can be accessed through the Joomla core system (presumably with a plugin). It just seems logical with the integration of platforms following the launch of EasySocial.

When, for example in Joomlart, EasyBlog is not given the same access via category/tags modules to all areas of a template (as with K2) it is a major restriction on the use of the component.

I am looking forward to using JReviews with EasySocial, but am hoping there will be a benefit for EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss categories and tags.
Hi Mark,

Thank you for the replies to my questions, does your last answer solve this problem?

The Category and Tag systems in EB/ED are currently separate from the Joomla Core making an EB/ED content filter from 3rd party template modules impossible without modifications by the template provider that do not always occur.

It means access to content in EasyBlog or EasyDiscuss is not available in other parts of a site except through Stackideas modules, which restricts the benefit of EB/ED in 3rd party templates where they only provide a module filter for Joomla core components (for example K2).

If you are adding Category/Tags in your search plugin, will this allow 3rd party modules that filter for Joomla core components to include EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss as well?

Hello Richard,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. Unfortunately 3rd party modules only searches for items on their own database tables. It wouldn't be possible to actually support EasyBlog unless those modules support them.

Hi Mark,

It is not going to happen with Joomlart anytime soon, but not too worry as the problem is solved.........

I am spoilt with the product quality and support here, so it does take a lot for other products to match my expectations, but there is a perfect 3rd party solution that is responsive, works out of the box with Joomla 3.2 and EasyBlog Categories as well as a filter for EasyBlog tags within categories.

The JoomUltra Slideshow is the ultimate product in terms of all the features you will ever need and integration with Joomla/K2/EasyBlog and I am sure it will work with JReviews as well.

The JU Content Slider is another top quality product that works with EasyBlog categories and tags in the same way as the slideshow.

The JED reviews give it 5 out of 5 for both products in quality and support and I would agree.

The JU Tabs product is also superb, offering multiple display options as well as accordion and tabs within tabs, but does not offer EasyBlog access yet, although I expect it will soon.

I assume you are aware of the product quality from JoomUltra, so my post is really for anyone in the forum who is looking for a Slideshow, Slider, Tabs and Accordion that are responsive and will work in Joomla 3.2 with access to EasyBlog Categories and Tags.
