Dear StackIdeas SuperStars,

I know EasyDiscuss has the nice badge system and I think I'm right in saying that these always have to be 'earned'..... Wouldn't it be cool and powerful if certain badges could be 'free' and just claimed by the users in the EasySocial community?

So the site admin could create a badge and set it to 'CLAIMABLE' rather than associate an action / limit with it... Then our site users can browse the badges and just 'claim' appropriate ones to show on their profiles?

Hope that makes sense - and maybe it's a fairly easy one to implement? Would bring a nice way for users to add things to display on their profile page...
i like the idea .. sport fans of certain clubs will claim maybe "real madrid" .or students will claim their favorite subject badge .. yea really nice idea

Thanks for seeing the potential Muhanad.... If you haven't already voted for it on Voices please do!

Thankfully it's accepted and on the Road Map... but a little way off. Maybe it can be brought forward with enough interest. The way I see it, some people would get EasySocial for that feature alone!

I'm also guessing it's not that hard to implement relative to all the other wonderful things the StackIdeas SuperHeroes are doing

Hello Andy,

just did and left a comment. I really like the idea but i guess we as admins should find the best way to use it without losing the meaning of it.

Regards,

Thanks for the input guys but I am still having a little hard time understanding the behavior of this. If it's claim-able, wouldn't then defeats the purpose of "earning" the badge and also make the badge look pretty useless?

Hi Mark - It's on the RoadMap currently for v3.0 - The idea was not to have the same badge as claimable AND earnable at the same time because yes that would be fairly useless.... rather when the Admin creates a new badge it can be earnable (as per the current functionality) OR simply claimable.

The claimable badges would show on the Badge View page with a 'Claim Me' type button - so kind of like shopping for 'badges' users would browse and simply take the one(s) they like.... this has so many uses.. for my site, health awareness it'll be things like 'Cancer Survivor', 'Supporting AIDS', 'Living with Diabetes', 'Trying to stop smoking'..... but yes for other sites like the example above it could be football teams to show you support this that or the other.

It's a fun extra dimension, and hopefully quite straightforward compared to all the other magical features you're working on!

and when clicking on any badge the members who claimed/earned it should be listed .. this way you will introduce a new way for people with the same cause/interest to meet up.

For me this woud be great too but it would need to be validated by an admin.

Exemple : i have a sports school. a badge that says "I went to every training / practice session" would be awesome.

So it is earned, but earned of the web site. People then come to the site and claim it and it could be validated by an admin.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Perhaps some sort of queue system should be in place for moderating such claims.

OR lets make it even better,

in student and teacher profile types environment

Let's allow specific profile type ( acl group) to able to assign some badges to users .. for example, a teacher will be able to give a student an "A student Badge"

Wow this would be nice

the awesome system would have all this :

bages earned on the web site by actions
bages earned in real life that can be claimed by users but with no need for moderateur validation
bages earned in real life that can be claimed by users and are validated by moderateurs
bages that can be given by teachers

Hello NK,

We do have badge system in Easysocial. We call it Achievements which you can refer here: http://stackideas.com/docs/easysocial/administrators/achievements . By the way, you are replying to an old post. You might want to create a new thread. I'll lock this thread since this was posted on 2013.
