Even after re-installing the component launcher, the 'Check For updates' spins endlessly and never completes. I have optimized and repaired the database tables. I have cleared all caches on the site and browser, nothing is working.
By any chance, are you running the site on https? Is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue?
