Hi there,

I am sure I'm not the only one, but I would like to ask if there are any updates about EB5? This is not a complaint or anything like that, just a simple question.

It is just that I am about to launch a new aspect to my site and thought that a revamped EB might do the trick. However, if it will be another few months I will respectfully use a different system.

Thanks in advance!
Hey guys,

I have to admit that this time around, our release cycle got delayed and we are not running away from the fact that it has been delayed. We made some mistakes and we were also over confidence over the new composer that causes us to rewrite parts of it as we felt uncomfortable releasing it to the masses.

Truthfully, there has been a lot of issues that was brought up after we have completed the initial composer and we just needed more time to make it more stable. It's not a simple operation as this is something that has never been done before and it's something new to us as well.

However, I do know that whatever I mentioned above is not going to much of a difference considering that there is already a delay. Me and the marketing team will work on something as soon as EasyBlog 5 is released to compensate on the time that you guys have lost during your subscription.

Nevertheless, I do hope that you guys give us some space to breath rather than posting your complaints on the forum because it's really demotivating to get these messages on a daily message while we are struggling to wrap up EasyBlog 5 as soon as we can.

Thanks for understanding guys and I sincerely appreciate everyone's feedback!

Hi guys,

Thank you for the inquiry. I took a peek at the dev's work bench and though EB5's UX looks superbly good, there are some core features that requires them to double check and ensure that everything works as it is. The only answer (and it's a cliche ones, I know ) is that EB5 will be available sometime soon.

Perhaps you can share with me the new aspects that you're aiming for your site and we can assist you with it.

Hi Ahmed,

Thank you for your reply. I am hoping to have articles/blog posts on my site and was thinking of either using the native Joomla articles, or Zoo or maybe EB5 as it looks very easy and friendly to use. What I was hoping is that Stackideas will improve the modules you had before where you can show case blog posts. Something a bit like News Show Pro (Gavick).

I am kinda leaning towards Joomla native articles but I saw the videos you posted and it made me think.

Hi Ahmed,

For me I am really hoping that EB5 will have an additional setting in the Twitter autoposting set-up that allows you to specify a hashtag to use. So for example I can set my admin Twitter autoposting to put every post up as HashTag StackIdeas.

Maybe even just before the posting happens, a dialog box comes up with the default hashtag that's been established saying "About to post to Twitter. Confirm Hashtag" which would actually allow you to remove / add to the default.

Wow

...oh and I promise I'll stop at just two.... The second would be the ability to beautifully connect an EasyBlog post(s) with EasySocial event(s).

So if the author makes the connection, then when you read the EB post you get a clear link to the event(s), and vice versa when you view the event(s) you get a clear link to the blog(s).

Ahmad.. well, you did ask for suggestions here.. and yes I did say I'd stop at 2 (above)... but this one is so huge I just gotta sneak in a third....

Again re: Auto-Posting... The mighty EasySocial itself (on another site) should be an option too... So imagine the webmaster that has separate dedicated sites with people blogging away... but one central one too with EasySocial on it.

If the master ES site allows it (not sure how this would work, maybe admin would put in accepted URL sites) then, the children sites get the option to 'Auto-Post' up to the EasySocial stream of the master site when they add a blog to their own dedicated children site.

Does that make sense!?

So Site A has EasySocial and EasyBlog5. Sites B, C, D have EasyBlog5....
...Because Site A is configured to accept it, a blogger on Site B, C or D can post there and have it auto-post as well to Site A ES Stream?!?!!?!

Hi @David and @Andy,

I truly appreciate the ideas and feedback that you guys are sharing with me. We'll keep all of this in our "to-be-discussed" list; our first priority is to get EB5 out, first.

@van Urk, I understand your concern and frustration. To be honest, I've been pushing the team to finish up EB5 and get it out. Being a non-techie, I'm not so sure if I can explain what happened with the development but from what I've eavesdropped, it appears that they are trying to lift something which blocks them; plus, they are polishing up stuffs which were already done.

I wish I can give you guys a fixed date (this will make my job waaaaaay easier!) but I really can't.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Rene,

Well, I put on my bullet-proof vest and walked into the dev room. After bombarded with bombs and rockets and whatnots, I've managed to extract the information that you need from one of the dev.....

....EasyBlog 5 supports Joomla 2.5.

Hope this helps!

p/s please don't ask me to go back in there. It's scary... They do not like to be disturbed when they are concentrating.

Hello guys,

As long as Joomla still supports Joomla 2.5, we will continuously ensure that it works on Joomla 2.5 as well Though, EasyBlog will no longer support 1.5 since it is already obsolete and anyone that still runs on Joomla 1.5 will need to consider upgrading their site.

Any updates guys?! You announced EasyBlog5 on your blog on the 6 August. It is nearly four months now, and that is before a labour some beta period (if it will be the same as EasySocial could add several weeks more). I am sorry if I sound impatient but there is obviously something wrong. I appreciate the you are trying to get it as perfect as you can but at the same time the current EB is extremely outdated (mainly visually).

I know that many people added suggestions to this post of what they would like, but it sounds that you guys are struggling to get a basic revamp out so I am not even thinking of all the juicy suggestions.

I run my own business and I find it annoying when people give me suggestions without knowing the whole picture, but maybe instead of trying to get a perfect product you can just release the obvious next development. It doesn't make much sense to try and get it so perfect if your gaps of releases (see EasySocial) are getting wider and wider. I think little and often is better. Just a thought!

Hello David,

Thank you for your inquiry. We've just had a huge meeting yesterday pertaining to our development and we're reshuffling the strategy. I strongly believe that with this reshuffle, EB5 (or even ES) will be out sooner than we thought. Still, I am not allowed to release any dates nor ETA for both component.

The team are pushing as best as they can and this is the time for all of us, including myself, to show them our trust and support.

I see Joomla 2.5 support ends Dec 31st... I suspect that'll make for a leaner and much improved EB5 if it's now being built purely for Joomla 3 sites and doesn't have to worry about whatever legacy support and extra code is needed

Hello Andy,

Yep, indeed Anyway we'll still be supporting Joomla 2.5 for the next couple of months even when Joomla deprecates Joomla 2.5

i really appreciate your words about 2.5 Support i personally believe that, changing a working system before stable 3.5 LTS Version is released will generate new issues! keep calm is a good decision for existing installations..

An even better idea, would be for EB Autoposter to use the first 2 tags set, for the hashtags?

A lot of work went into http://stackideas.com/easyblog5 and it hasn't been updated. I check the blog almost every day now and that kind of *****...

But that is fine with me because I'd rather that it was getting done than promoted but how about just a text list of features and changes/updates (feature drops / unsupported as well) from the current EB, so that some of us can make some decisions?

i unterstand your post very well and i do the same every day on this EB5 Blog entry!

But currently there is no Roadmap for Easyblog to see what changes are (except the composer) in the pipeline! You can vote for EB Roadmap here: http://stackideas.com/forums/roadmap-for-easyblog and here http://stackideas.com/voices/easyblog/item/594

hi Mark, many thanks for your statement about the delay of EB5 Release. i'm just wonder why you explain it so late and only after the Posts here in forum and Blog Comments are bit escalated! I don't know if you remember, but i asked you during the time of missing EB Preview Videos what happend!? That was the Point where the communication between Stackideas and your Customer stopped! There was all the Time no additional Blog Entry wich explained your new situation in the progress of Development! at the end it's all about the Quality of communication!

However, I do know that whatever I mentioned above is not going to much of a difference considering that there is already a delay. Me and the marketing team will work on something as soon as EasyBlog 5 is released to compensate on the time that you guys have lost during your subscription.

i unterstand you very well..it can be frustrating for daily life work if you have to read each day the same complaints, but for me it's also frustrating to get Admin Message like: "The Account of this User are deleted.." and if i ask they said to me "sorry but it's so complicated to Write a Blog entry and i get also not a timeline of my entrys or something like a logical navigation between my related blog entrys" or "it's working not very well with Tablet or Smartphones.." and so on..

Hello Rene,

We always strife to get a win / win situation for everyone and I know that you are frustrated about your users leaving but by ranting here in the forums, it doesn't solve your issue at all. Does it help reduce your user de-activation if you post here in the forums? I really don't think so.

As to why I was late in replying, I can truthfully tell you that I am not trying to avoid your questions at all. Nobody is trying to avoid anything and I probably might have just missed your question.

I have my own family matters which I need to resolve and the past 2 months have been very hectic for me. I also need to fulfill my responsibilities in my family but really I don't have to even share this with you or anyone on the forums because I think everyone has their own personal matters to resolve too. I just needed some time to resolve my own matters.

The delay, yes it really s ucks and I hate the delays as much as you do or even more but I am very sure that when you look at the final output of the composer, you will understand why it's taking such a long time for us.

With the above being said, I truly appreciate all your constructive feedback, complaints or rants as I am discussing with Justin over this matter.
