Yesterday I posted a question regarding email that was answered. In the answer I was referred to the EasySocial documentation page which was very helpful. However, while reading all of the information found on the page, I noticed that there is a Groups section, (see attached screenshot). In that section it described how to access groups in the backend. "To access the groups area at the back end, you can do so by clicking on the Groups sidebar menu". Am I missing something or could I possibly have an outdated version of EasySocial because I don't have a "Groups" area in my sidebar to click on.

Please advise.
hey k gibbs,
no worries - you haven't missed anything groups are coming in the next version (1.2) which is currently tested over at http://stackideas.com/issues
so if you want to have a look already and test the new groups feel free to grab the latest rc version and test it.
note: it's not yet "stable" so it's recommended to use a test-site for this and not put it to a production server. also if you find any problems feel free to post them over there (same adress I shared above) so that the stackideas team can keep the forum for the current official releases and this seperate place for beta testing.

hope that helps

Okay I get it. Any anticipation on when 1.2 will be released?

And in order to download the test version I would have to have a second installation of Joomla correct? Please forgive me I'm somewhat new to all of this?

there's no announced release date, it actually depends on how many problems still get found and have to be fixed.
yes, to test this version you'd need another joomla install as it's not possible to run 2 different versions of easysocial on one instance of joomla.
hope that helps

I actually could NOT upgrade 1.1.16 using the Outdated button from within EasySocial. So, I had to upgrade by downloading com_easysocial_launcher_advanced_1.2.1_joomla3.0.zip and installing it using the Joomla Extension Manger installer. I did not get any groups. I also did not get the frosty theme. And, the Signups and Mail Delivery data was all lost. Both the Groups and the Access links provide 500 errors. I did do a backup earlier today and can restore my site back to the 1.1.16 but wanted to leave it in it's current broken state for you to see and maybe figure out what went wrong with the installer. I will put access info into this reply. I hope it is OK to put this data here. Or, should I be creating a brand new thread?

Thank you very much Nik,

I would sure like to know if there was something I did wrong or if there is something wrong with my server that required me to seek your assistance?

Also, I see that there is now and upgrade from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 and I just tried to use the Outdated button to automatically update. but, I received the same error from yesterday. Today instead of downloading the upgrade and installing with the Joomla Extension Manager I am choosing to leave it broken so that you can come in and take a look. I wanted to upload an image of the error message for you but just discovered that is not possible here. So, I uploaded it to the site temporarily at http://starch-smart.com/images/qa/140320_ES_Installer_Error.png

Thank you Arlex for updating my site. I appreciate that very much. And... I would even more appreciate if somebody could help me to know what the problem is that keeps preventing me from updating myself. Do you know if there is something I am doing wrong that keeps causing this problem?

Hello Sean,

I'm sorry that i missed something explanation in my previous reply,
If you download the EasySocial launcher installer zip file -> you should install via network
If you download the EasySocial full package -> you should install via directory

Hope this help.
