I have a Feed Module in place and underneath a the Easy Discuss toolbar.

When logged in I would like this to show the related ED Category.

So if I have a Financial Crime Discussion Feed Page i.e. https://www.riskoracle.com/news-financial-crime at the bottom of the page it would then show the Financial Crime ED Category page i.e. https://www.riskoracle.com/forum/categories/financial-crime-1
Hi there,

Currently, it is not achievable based on your setup. I would suggest you to create a menu item for that categories and assign those module accordingly to that menu item and set those module to registered users only. Those module will shown to registered users only.

Please advice.

You mean a top menu item?

I already have the generic ED toolbar showing.

How can I get it to show the specific category? Or no way?

Any way to assign a URL to a module then assign this to the News page under the feed module?

Hey Jason,

The menu item could be a hidden menu and doesn't need to be visible on the site. It just needs to be created so that you can assign different modules dependent on the menu item. It's tedious though because if you have 100 categories, this means you need to create 100 menu items and also 100 different modules for each different category.

Ok understood the linking to the hidden menu item.

Then on the particular news page you assign the module.

Which module do you assign/create to show a specific ED Category?

Update

Ok I tried

But....it did not really do anything.

I created a hidden menu item called Cyber Crime Forum.
Set menu type to single category layout
Assigned it only to the Cyber News page
Assigned a module called Cyber Security Forum - Latest Replies
Set it to position content top etc.

Logged in as a premium member and went to the Cyber News Page and hoped to see it at the bottom.

Got a feed not found.

So reset the ordering to after Cyber Crime. Got my feed back but no Listing in the ED category even though I know there are 3 old posts.

Hi there,

You can copy your 'Feed Module' and assign them accordingly to your menu item. It should shown as it should. If you wanted to show to logged in user only, you can set those module access to registered only as for example http://take.ms/Su9g1 and http://take.ms/MCc2s.

Please advice.

Reading your response I either don't understand (likely) or you don't understand what I want to achieve on the page.

I am trying to have on 1 page:

RSS Feed Display e.g. Cyber Crome
ED Category Latest Discussions e.g. Cyber Crime & Security

Thanks on the assignment to registered but I don't understand why the community check box image.

I updated my post with what I tried.

Thanks for the help. ONce I get 1 right I can do it for the rest of the news feed pages (only 11 high level!)

Hi there,

You didnt assign any module on your Cyber Crime module currently. I have assign them and it shown correctly now.

Thanks on the assignment to registered but I don't understand why the community check box image.

Actually, i am giving you example on how to assign them accordingly. You need to assign them accordingly based on your need. It should shown now once you logged in to your site. Please give it a check.

Hey Jason,

I think there are some misunderstanding here. When you mention the "feed" module, I was thinking that you were referring to the rss feed module where you want to render rss feed items from another site.

I am really lost here, would you mind elaborating more about what you are trying to achieve here?

The last set of photos explain.

I have a page with a feed module.

On the page under the feed module i want to put ED Most Recent Discussion for a specific ED category.

I thought I had the solution.

I can put a generic ED module. But cannot find one for a specific category.

When i go new article I can see a module that does this called ED single category and i thought I could make this work.

Please reread the thread. It explains what I want to achieve.

So if I have a Financial Crime Discussion Feed Page i.e. https://www.riskoracle.com/news-financial-crime at the bottom of the page it would then show the Financial Crime ED Category page i.e. https://www.riskoracle.com/forum/categories/financial-crime-1

From what I understand from your initial post, you want to display the output from https://www.riskoracle.com/forum/categories/financial-crime-1 to also be rendered on https://www.riskoracle.com/news-financial-crime then it is not going to be possible.

However, when I re-read your responses, they are a little confusing because every reply you are referring to a different module altogether. For an instance, in your last reply,

I have a page with a feed module. On the page under the feed module i want to put ED Most Recent Discussion for a specific ED category.

This response is completely irrelevant to what you have posted initially. Which feed module are you referring to? Are you referring to the rss feed module in Joomla?

Assuming that you have a feed module rendered on a page and you want to render a recent discussion module underneath it,

1. You can use the recent discussions module and configure the module to filter by category that you want, http://take.ms/jeR3C

2. Then, you need to separate menu items for each feed module

3. Then, you also need to create another recent discussion module (with the correct category filter) and configure it to appear in the menu item that you want.

I think this is what I needed to know.

I was referring to rss feed module from Joomla not a stack feed.

I already have the pages set up for the different rss news.

Now I need to put this recent discussions module with specific category set under the RSS Feed module on the page.

Let me try and see what happens.

Thx.

Yes, if you have 5 categories, then this is what you need to do:

1. Create 5 menu items linking to the 5 different feed module in Joomla.

2. Create 5 different recent discussions module and configure the module to appear on selective menus that you created on step #1

Hi Mark and Abdul:

I am using this method to show category descriptions on single category pages and not on the Category list page. Is there some other way to show category descriptions only on the single category page but not on the category list page by just using the settings?

This would really make life easier for me. It used to be possible before but was taken out in one of the past updates.

Thanks

Hi sen,

Unfortunately, there is no way to achieve this currently through settings and without doing template overrides.

Hiding description from the settings will hide it both from listing and category entry page.

Do start a new thread if you have any issues.
