Actually that is correct layout if you using Nickel theme and if the blog content word display longer than other block, so it will display like this http://take.ms/Kq0Ed .

Because the blog title it might be show more than 2 line so the block height will be different than other block.

If you really want to display 2 block same height, I would like to suggest you to use grid menu layout, you can create a menu item for Grid blog menu, then configure it to show 2 columns and disable some of the thing if you do not want to display on the page (screenshot : http://take.ms/4C4ry).
