My first foray with Easyblog and I don't find anything about it easy.

1. How do I get rid of the attached placeholder image? I cannot understand any logical reason why I would want my blog filled with it.

2. I'm entering old blog posts from another site. I clicked the "Published date" button (actually they're all the same) - nothing happens. It plain doesn't work.

3. I have the menu item set as (Posts) Frontpage. The full post is shown, yet there's a continue reading button which shows that, when clicked, shows the whole post again with the author details. This makes zero sense.

The documentation is no use. Is ANYTHING "easy" about this?

Frustrated.
Haha spent awhile today struggling with the cover/placeholder image issue today. You have to turn that off in the Joomla menu options.

Easyblog 5 is not as easy as earlier versions I'm starting to think. Like every other software there are teething pains coming out of Beta and once the bugs are worked out I'm sure it will be easy again.

I'm looking for the solution to one of your other questions myself as it seems the scheduled posts is not working right ... I'm about to go live with a new site and will just have to wait for that solution. Not planning to upgrade my other sites to EasyBlog 5 until someone has gone heavy with the bug spray! But I do like the EasyBlog team so I'm sure they've got their spray in hand.

OMG thank you! I mean, I always wanted a butt-ugly, oversized image stuffed right in the front of every post - thank goodness someone thought of it... NOT! I wonder at developers and what they're smokin gsometimes...!!

I never used v3 so can't compare, but, for the latest version they just need to call it "Blog" - there isn't any easy about it. My clients are going to die trying to figure it out!

Alas it has little competition so I guess I'll have to tough it out. Why they can't write some useful documentation...

I'm using 3.9 on another site and it's wonderful. No complaints at all.

Though, I'm right there with you in regards to 5.0+. EasyBlog 5 is very modern and unique but in it's current state, a good bit is broken. I'm sure the bugs will be worked out eventually though. The EasyBlog team is very friendly and quick to help fix issues from my experiences.

I've started the new site with 5.0.7 expecting less bugs than what we got. Not sure why they released it in the state it's in and I'm hesitant to take the site live with the multiple bugs I've encountered.

So far I'm up to 5 issues to report. I'll be creating a thread with video screen-casts for those issues.

Truthfully I'm not loving EB 5 at the moment. ): I could have had this site up and running a day or so ago with EB3. But since the site wasn't live I thought I'd give it a try. That said, the Easyblog team is up there with the best for support so I'm confident they'll have everything sorted out quickly. I'll suffer the bumps in the road ... software coming out of BETA is always PITA. Maybe it is the beta testers that are smoking something?

hi Ian Shere,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply, please find your answer in your queries below.

1. How do I get rid of the attached placeholder image? I cannot understand any logical reason why I would want my blog filled with it.

I believe Anna already provided you the answer
By the way, you also can disable the "Show Post Image Placeholder" from the Easyblog > category setting.
Check my screenshot below.

2. I'm entering old blog posts from another site. I clicked the "Published date" button (actually they're all the same) - nothing happens. It plain doesn't work.

Thanks for reporting this issues, we already fix this issues in latest version of Easyblog 5.0.9 now.

3. I have the menu item set as (Posts) Frontpage. The full post is shown, yet there's a continue reading button which shows that, when clicked, shows the whole post again with the author details. This makes zero sense.

is it possible provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can take a look of this?

The documentation is no use. Is ANYTHING "easy" about this?

Thanks for kind of your feedback we will see if we can make something easy documentation for this.
