Easy Blog Question - Is it still compatible with Joomla 1.5? I read a post from January 2012 that indicated that Easy Blog was compatible but wanted to be sure that was still the case. We are wanting to recommend this integration for a client but want to be sure we will not encounter any issues after purchasing it. Please advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
Hello,

Easyblog 3.9 requires Joomla 2.5 or Joomla 3

Older versions of EasyBlog 3.8 support Joomla 1.5 but remember that Joomla 1.5 is no longer supported by Joomla.org so it is highly recommended to encourage this client to upgrade to be able to take advantage of all the benefits of newer versions of extensions. Joomla 1.5 as has many known security issues that can pose issues. Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3 have much more robust security measures.

See this discussion post why EasyBlog 3.9 does not support Joomla 1.5:

Thank you for the reply. We have an initiative to upgrade the site in the near term but if we wanted to obtain EasyBlog 3.8 would we be able to obtain it and then upgrade the version (cost?) when we upgrade the joomla version? The client is just in a need to have this implemented asap so we wanted to get something in place and your product is what they want very badly. Thanks again for any help you can provide.

Nicholas,

When you buy a year subscription for EasyBlog you get access to the current v3.9 and also the archive older versions for one whole year so you don't have to worry about paying a further upgrade fee when you go from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5 or 3.x

As long as you do it within one year you can access all EasyBlog versions available with your yearly subscription.

That's really great. I think I know the answer to this question but I'll ask it anyway. The "Subscription" is access to the updates and support correct? This isn't a recurring annual fee for use once implemented (ie. if a subscription isn't purchased the extension isn't disabled and unusable). Is that correct? Thank you again for you prompt reply, much appreciated!

Your yearly subscription comes with full support for one year, plus all updates for one year. In my experience as a long time customer, I am sure you will find the StackIdeas team offers excellent support.

This fee is only if you want access to support and the updates. For example, if you buy it today for your clients site you get one full year of updates and support. If you don't renew the subscription a year from now there is no further fee for that site using the extension. Essentially you are paying for the yearly support and access to updates only.

Someone from the StackIdeas team can clarify if I missed anything.

Awesome, thank you again for the clarification. We will most likely purchase the extension now and make the update in the near future (ie. 6 months at the latest).
