Hey there,

I am really sorry for coming back to this topic again. My members demand e-mail notifications more and more and I can not serve this due to the way the options works at the moment. My plans were to offer at least push notifications through the app but you know the neverending story about the app...

When I switch on e-mail notifications for conversations i.e. every member will have it turned on and needs to turn it off in case they do not want e-mail notifications.

I need it the other way round. I want to switch the notifications on in the backend and have it set to no as per default for users. But each user can switch it on if he wants to.

This is very important to be this way around, because german law presumes an acceptance for e-mails before sending them. Switching it manually to yes by each user would be such an acceptance...

Is there ANY way to realize this?
Hey Sabih,

Unfortunately there isn't an easy work around for this If there is an easy work around, I would definitely provide this to you but due to the nature of the way the privacy works, it's going to be extremely tedious to change this.

Hey Mark,

I understand. Is there perhaps a manually way to change this for existing users when I activate the notifications at the backend? Maybe inside the database or elsewhere?

Perhaps something like I activate it, do not activate the cronjob to prevent mails being sent and make it manually off for each registered user? For new users I could solve this by a message during registration.

I would definitely provide this to you

Thank you Mark, I know you would. I will try not to get back to this topic for at least some time.
