ES 1.2.14 on J3.3

I am testing the regular Search (Joomla Smart Search) function (not Advanced Search, which works fine).

If I input the member's name, the search works.

If I input the member's school, then there are no search results. If I use Advanced Search, I do receive search results.

I indexed the content just prior to running the test.

Please advise.

Thanks
Hi William,

Actually the toolbar search and advanced search are two different search. Toolbar search can be used to search users, photos, albums and groups. As for advanced search, it is used to search users based on custom fields.

To turn off toolbar search, you can do it from EasySocial backend under Themes -> [your_selected_theme] -> toolbar and disable the option 'show search'. Please see http://screencast.com/t/nH83oKIA4

Hope this help and have a nice day!

Hi William,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Regarding the smart search plugin for EasySocial users, I am sorry but currently this plugin do not index data form the custom fields
We will see if we can include this in future release of EasySocial or not

Thanks and have a nice day

This is quite surprising. Since it does not work (at this time) with the custom fields, then having it visible is confusing to the user. How do I hide the Search box in the ES template?

Thank you.

I certainly hope that you are able to integrate the custom fields with the Joomla Smart Search. If not, it has limited value and will definitely cause confusion for the user.

As you are aware, there have been many forum requests for a more sophisticated Advanced Search interface, and that can be customized by the website administrator. Perhaps you can add this to your roadmap.

Hello
More or less same for me
Could be interesting to use this search ability in user list page
Combined with a map or geo search that could be a big feature

for social website user search in user list is very important

Hope easysocial will provide something never incounter in the next future
