Many Joomla components like JomSocial, Kunena, etc., come with a hidden menu. This makes it easier to work with modules.

Can a comprehensive hidden menu be created for EasyBlog? If so, can you detail one.

Hey Rene,

Hm, why would you want a "hidden" menu when you could just create a new hidden menu on your menu manager, and create a frontpage blog layout menu item in this new menu

Hi Mark,

I do not understand what you are saying. Can you elaborate? I know you used to work on JomSocial. JomSocial came with its own menu. This was good because we had better control over modules with this setup. Kunena comes with its own menu.

Why doesn't EasyBlog?

Hold on a second here, I might be misunderstanding of what you meant by "hidden menus" and what is the sole purpose of having this menu? If you need to create menu items solely for the purpose of routing behaviors but without having to display these menus on the template, you can just:

1. Create a menu called "Hidden Menu"
2. Create menu items which links to single category layouts under this "Hidden Menu".

This way, the menu's won't be visible on the site but the routing of the blog posts would still be using these hierarchies.

Okay Mark. Thanks for the explanation. It still sounds too difficult for me to create this type of menu considering that EasyBlog is constantly evolving. I will just leave things alone.

Hi Mark,

I am glad that you mentioned it was so easy. I would like to formally request that you include a menu with EasyBlog. This way we know that routing behaviour would be maintained during upgrades and integration with your other components would work as expected.

Also, please separate the landing page from single blog views.

There is no way to create new menus by default and retain your existing SEO structure because all your current urls are based on the menus that you have currently.

Hi Mark,

Okay. I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing. When you first install Kunena or JomSocial, the installer creates a Joomla menu for each one of these components. Why can't you do the same thing with EasyBlog?

Because by doing so, the urls on the site could be different since the url structure of the entry is based on the menus on the site.
