For some reason I am having trouble grasping this. I've read a few threads here and there that have touched on it but they are fairly old and I just want to be sure I have the current info. Anyway, here's the situation and what I am trying to achieve:

I am the Super User of the site. Some other folks are going to be coming on to manage the Easy Social/Discussion portion of the site. My main question: Does someone HAVE to be a Super User in order to moderate posts/groups, etc and receive emails to approve new users? These tasks are ultimately what I want to be able to assign to a couple of users WITHOUT making them Super Users if possible. If it's not possible, are there any comparable options? Thanks in advance.
Hi John Lancaster,

You actually can create the user under administrator (Joomla Group) where actually you can configure the Joomla group specifically in the (System>Global configuration>users) and under each component (Easydiscuss and EasySocial) you can configure their ACL as well
In conclusion, you no need to put the moderator under super admin where can access all of your site

Thanks, that much makes sense. But here's another related issue. I created a new custom group under "Administrator" and gave that group access to the Users section in Easy Social. I created a test user and assigned it to the new group. Now when I log into the backend with this test user account and go to the Users section in Easy Social, this user is able to delete my Super User account. At least it appears so since there is a checkbox by the Super User account and the "delete" button is visible and appears active. Is there a way to fix this? Or a way to hide the Super User account all together?

Hi John,

As the user have permission in the user area, they can configure each of the user section.
However, you can restrict the group from access the user area by:
1. Click System>global configuration>EasySocial>administrator>Access Users Area-denied

But if I do that, then these users would be unable to approve new user registrations, correct? That's one of the main tasks I want these users to be able to perform. If they were denied access to the user area, would they be able to approve new user registrations directly from the email notification that is sent or do they have to have user access?

Hi John,

Email approval actually sent out to the super admin right currently.

Okay then, so... you're saying that there is no way to give an administrator the ability to approve new registrations without giving them full access to the User section (which also gives them the ability to delete the Super User account)? And that there is no way to hide the Super User account from the administrators in the User section?

Hello John,

Yep, that is correct as currently EasySocial will pick up e-mails from super administrators only. We do plan to extend this functionality though.

However, in Easydiscuss if the user is part of a moderation group, they would be able to get moderation e-mails.

I just came across this post because i have exactly the same problem. I have a client whom i want to be responsible for the registrations. I really think it is seriously weird that i can't do that without making this user a super admin.

I really can't imagine that this feature is wanted by a lot of users.... Really hope this function is being added really soon

i found a way to fix this. I created a superuser with mailadres "Superuser@mydomain.com" Then i forwarded the emails from "superuser@mydomain.com" to the actual user who is moderator. Works like a charm!
