Hi, I am using the 'Role' feature from EasyDiscuss to visibly show who is a free member and who is a paid member of my site. Obviously this works well on the forum pages but I'd like the role labels to show on EasySocial too.

Is it possible for the role labels to display on the members' ES timeline entries and members' profile pages?

Thanks
Hi Peter,
Is it possible for the role labels to display on the members' ES timeline entries and members' profile pages?
It is not possible as there is no integration currently for EasyDiscuss's role labels in EasySocial's timeline or profile page.

OK thank you, that's a shame.

Is there another way to show within EasySocial whether someone is 'Registered', 'Author' or 'Super User' in Joomla groups?

Hey Peter,
Unfortunately there is no user group/profile type distinction in the stream timeline. But in the profile page, you can try making use of EasySocial's profile type by aggregating users into different profile types since a user's profile type will be displayed in their profile page(http://take.ms/dNaFb).

Thanks Raymond,

Can that be set up so it happens automatically as I have 1000s of users?

It would have to change in accordance with their memberships changing from registered when they pay and back to registered if their paid account expired.

When I had a look around ES profile types I didn't think it could do that.

Hey Peter,
As far as automating the profile type changing process, EasySocial does not have this feature.
It seems you are using Membership Pro, which does not integrate with EasySocial profile type like Payplan does.
You can check this forum post: https://www.joomdonation.com/forum/membership-pro-features-wish-list/56356-integration-with-easysocial-profile-types.html
Perhaps you can consult Membership Pro for more inquiries regarding this.

Hi Raymond,

Again, its a shame because if ES could change profile type according to Joomla user group it wouldn't matter which subscription software was being used.

It seems slightly odd to be able to initially set/change profile types by Joomla goup in ES but not allow changes in Joomla group to reflect in ES afterwards.

But thank you anyway

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your insights on this. Switching groups alone shouldn't really take effect on the profile type they are on because the profile types aren't locked to user groups in Joomla. Think of it as an "inheritance" of acl rule sets for Joomla.

Perhaps your idea of "locking" groups with a specific profile type would make sense in certain scenarios where your site only uses a one to one relation between the group and profile types but some sites actually take advantage of the one to many relationship between groups and profile types.

If we do lock this, the latter would face problems because a group may intersect between 2 different profile types

Thanks for your response and explanation mark.

As sites vary so much perhaps it would be a great feature to be able to select 'locked' or not?

Just a thought.

I appreciate your reply - don't you guys ever call it a day and go home to bed?

Yep, that could be ideal but we certainly should dive more into that because there are instances when some site owners decide to switch these settings once the site is already running. Could be tricky when it comes to cleaning up those existing accounts

Heh, we do go to bed, just that we try to stay awake as long as we can to ensure that we help out as much issues as we can. This way, when we wake up tomorrow, we have more time to spend on coding
