shame, the EasyBlog Random Post Module of the EasyBlog module series, 3.0.1, display only random posts without the feautered items. Unfortunately, this module version 3.0.1 comes without thumb image display, wich is a great new feature for us, otherwise we would take the module version 3.0.1 again.

Is it possible to change the model file in /components/com_easyblog/models/blog.php for this, as you mentioned it?

no, we want that the module display only random posts, like the former module series.
We want to display 3 random items in this module on our site. Also 3 featured items
will be displayed on our website in the main content.

Seemingly, the new modules was apparently programmed, that it displays also featured items and indicated this first,
so no random items will be displayed on our site in this module positions. That's our problem. You can check this on our site.

Probably this could be because the option "Pin Featured Items" is enabled in the back end settings of EasyBlog. You can turn this off under Settings > Layout > Featured
