Hi - is it possible to display the Easyblog category in the URL? I have been through all the settings but am unable to find this option. Thank you.
Hey there,

Do you mean that you want to show the category of the blog entry on the URL of the blog entry as well?

Hi Irwin

Yes, that's pretty much it. In the attached screenshot for example, I'd like the URL to be https://www.cannyco.com/blog/dog-advice/the-big-move-how-to-make-moving-easier-on-your-pet, instead of https://www.cannyco.com/blog/the-big-move-how-to-make-moving-easier-on-your-pet.

I don't want to enable the categories generally throughout the rest of the site so just wondering if this is possible only in Easyblog?

Hey there,

You can change the URL Format For Entry View to 'Simple Category'. https://take.ms/qnyAh

Can you have a try and see how it goes?

That's great Irwin, thank you for your help. One more question - if I have a blog post in multiple categories, will it assign to separate URLs for this post? And then I have to choose a canonical URL?

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it was a weekend for us here.

You're most welcome.

One more question - if I have a blog post in multiple categories, will it assign to separate URLs for this post? And then I have to choose a canonical URL?

The category alias for the URL for it is the primary category for it only and it is the current behavior for it.

As for the canonical URL, you do not need to. The system will generate it automatically for it and it will base on the URL which contains the primary category alias.

Hi Irwin

I'm not sure I understand - does the system determine a 'primary' category if the post is set to be in two categories? If so, how does it do this and how will I know which is the primary as it is not obvious from the post settings?

Hey there,

Every blog post will have its primary category and you can set it when you are composing/editing a blog post. https://take.ms/1GiFe
