I have a private intranet blog on one site and a public blog on another website. Is there a way to pull in stories from a category on the intranet blog to display on the public blog? If not, is there a way to copy the posts or export them easily?
Hello,

Take a look at the Feed importer feature in EasyBlog at the back end. It allows you to import blog posts via a RSS feed

hey russianblue,
actually there are different ways of doing this. of course you can copy paste posts from one blog to another (might be only an option when you just need 1 or 2 posts because everything beyond is just pain work ^^). another option would be to do an export from your database and re-import in the database of the other blog site but the probably easiest and best option would be to use feed imports. simply grab the feed url from the category you want to import and let easyblog do the rest automatically - hope that helps

edit: okay, mark was a second faster

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestions. The Feed Importer sounds like the best way to go but I can't find any documentation anywhere on how to use it or set it up?

Hello RussianBlue,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I make an sample explanation, let's say privacy site and public site

step 1 : copy that RSS FEED URL from the privacy site after you click the button
step 2 : GOTO your public site backend > easyblog > Feed importer > add new > paste the RSS FEED URL in the "Feed URL" field ( http://screencast.com/t/Kpr6TzrLout7 ) | And select your category and author ( http://screencast.com/t/xSuog6bj ) > then save

Step 3 : you have to set your cronjob for run this automatically when your privacy site publishing a blog post, so you no need to manually to run this URL in your public site ( http://yoursitename/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cronfeed ).

The Cron Feed documentation -> http://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/cronjobs/setting-up-cronjobs-for-feed-imports-in-cpanel
Hope this help.

Thanks Arlex,

I've Enabled RSS @ EasyBlog > Settings > Workflow > RSS, this has turned on a small RSS button and link (Subscribe via RSS) on the posts but when I click that link it displays the page source???

Hello,

I think you are getting this wrongly. What are you trying to do here? If you are trying to import from another site, all you need to do is to copy the RSS link. It's not meant for you to view in the browser. Then, you just need to create a new feed importer at the back end of EasyBlog and paste the URL that you just copied.

Yes I admit I'm confused, I am trying to import one category of stories from one site to another, both sites are using EasyBlog.

How do I copy this RSS link? I was expecting some sort of URL when I clicked the "Subscribe via RSS" link but all that does is show the source for that page.

That is the URL actually when you click on Subscribe via RSS. Just right click on the RSS link and click copy URL

It seems that I'm not getting any RSS feeds generated. Maybe I need to setup something in the backend first?

Thank you for taking time to look into this for me Mark.

I will need to add your fixed IP address to the whitelist of this site.

Unfortunately I can't, the host requires an SSL VPN to access FTP but I am able to upload and download files for you if that is any good.

Hello,

That would be quite insane because I will need to send the files more than 50 times I tried to use a file manager in Joomla but it looks like it's also preventing me to save anything http://screencast.com/t/oXEolAAOaX

Is there any way to just set the ftp up?

Hi Mark,

I've just had a meeting with the client and they have decided to go another route and drop the Feed Import idea as it's not working.

Thank you for your time on this one and I'm sorry it didn't pan-out.
