Display blog date published in Showcase Module

The date displayed in the Showcase module uses the date the blog entry was created. However, I would like it to show the date the blog entry was published. Our blogger creates entries in mass and sets the Publish dates into the future. Is this possible?
Currently we do not have a setting to change this date from the module, but you can download my attached file and put into this following file location, it should work.

JoomlaFolder/templates/YourCurrentTemplate/html/mod_easyblogshowcase/sidenav.php
