I have a discussion going in a group. A couple of people replied yesterday and I also added a comment. This is all shown on the main stream (see disc01.jpg). Today another person commented but when I click to go to the discussion, the only comment I now see is the one posted today (see disc02.jpg). I tried clicking on the links in the stream for yesterdays posts but that does the same, takes me to the discussion but only the one item and one participant (other than me.)

I'm not sure what's going on here and why the previous people's items no longer display in the discussion thread and are not shown as part of the discussion?

(On the back end I see their posts listed. )
Hello Andrew,

When people post comments on the stream, they will not be linked to the "replies" under the discussion. It's a separate entity of it's own because in a discussion reply, the replies are actually different as they are not "comments".

Is there any way to work around this. I think it is good that a member of a group sees in the stream that a new discussion has been started, but then most will just assume they are contributing to the discussion by commenting (yes I know it does say "Reply Discussion" as well as "Comment" but that is very subtle and most people are not going to realise that posting a comment in the stream wont become part of a discussion (I didn't!)

The subtlety that a "comment" is not a "reply" is lost because in the discussion page you can only post a reply, not a comment.

I also have Kunena forum on my site and I notice that any items that get listed in the stream only have options to view the actual topic and not to comment. That would make sense for Discussions also based on the described behaviour.

That's a shame. That's a shame. All it really needs is a way to not display the "Comment" link for these type of items.

I guess what with this and the fact you can't mention (with @) others and there is no commenting on responses (threaded content) it does seem quite a limited and quirky system. It's really tricky to know which way to go as Kunena is a great system but is "stand alone" rather than linked to groups and EasyDiscuss doesn't seem to be integrated with EasySocial (I coudn't see any mention of it in groups on the demo site and clicking the Discuss app from the profile page on the demo site just leaves it sitting forever trying to load something.)

I do hope the Discussions feature will improve soon (although I couldn't see it on the roadmap but I do find that a little confusing anyway as many items are not obvious what they mean, plus it appears nothing has been started for version 1.4 yet many items listed under version 1.7 show as in progress or complete!)

Hello Andrew,

We'll see what we can do about this in the future but this isn't our priority right now

I came across this thread (http://stackideas.com/forums/conversations-comments-or-replies) which has a fix to turn off the "Comment" so that's one quick work around for now anyway.

Hi Andrew,

You should create a Voice request for this as for SI's to keep track. I would agree that any already created and enabled features that might confuse the end-user shall be addressed. Read the previous thread about it too, when something is been in the air more than once, it's another incentive to push priority higher
