Hi,

I am trying to make some updates on the translations and spent the last 2 hours trying to find a single language string. Though I found it I can not change it. Nothing shows any effect.

APP_USER_DISCUSS_STREAM_REPLIED_TO_DISCUSSION I am searching for this string. Found in media/com_easysocial/apps/user/discuss/en-GB.plg_app_user_discuss.ini

Changing the translation has no effect for me. I tried to copy the file to the language folder, renamed it to fit my language, even deleted the language file in the folder found first had no effect.

On my dev site, which is german, the string is already translated but I can not even find the german translation.

In english it is:
AUTHOR replied to a discussion, TOPIC

In german, to be found on my dev site:
AUTHOR hat auf ein Thema geantwortet, TOPIC

What exactly am I missing?
Hey Sabih,
It looks like the reason the changes are not respected is because the system is still looking at another language file. We have helped you renamed these language files so the system will now look at xx-XX.com_easysocial.ini file
Joomla/adminisrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_app_user_discuss.ini_bak
Joomla/administrator/language/de-DE/de-DE.plg_app_user_discuss.ini_bak

I have also log this issue regarding the duplicate constants in these files so the devs can look into it.

Hi Sabih,
The translation does not come from the file path that you mentioned. Most if not all frontend translations comes from the JoomlaFolder\language directory. For the language constant that you mentioned, it is found here: JoomlaFolder\language\en-GB\en-GB.com_easysocial.ini.
You can perform language overrides in Joomla's backend language overrides page so that the changes are protected from future updates.
Hope this helps.

Hi Raymond,

thank you for your reply but even changing it in the en-GB.com_easysocial.ini had no effect. I even tried to change the de-DE.com_easysocial.ini. The string is inside the language file but it gives me no effect. Could you please try to change this string on my dev site and take a look if there is a change? For me changing the translation gives no effect.

My dev site credentials should be stored. Please use only the dev site logins.

There seems to be some errors on your language file, http://take.ms/kj9w5 . I have fixed this but not sure if this is the cause, can you please provide the direct link to the stream item by clicking on the stream's timestamp?

Hi Mark,

the cause of anything related to the main language file might be the fact that I am using this one for a long time. I never updated the language file itself but added missing strings by hand because I have a lot of individual translations.

URL to an entry: /community/stream/eintrag/19075

Hi Raymond, sorry for my late reply and thank you very much for your assistance. But I think I did not get what you mean exactly. If I will replicate all steps I made on my dev site to my live site, I just have to rename which file?

Hey Sabih,
These are the files that you should rename to solve your initial issue:
JoomlaFolder/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_app_user_discuss.ini
JoomlaFolder/administrator/language/de-DE/de-DE.plg_app_user_discuss.ini
