This is probably a bug since we do have the setting to set the author's editor in the backend authors page(http://take.ms/CCwKO).
I will log this issue in our tracker so the devs can investigate further.
In the meantime, I have attached a temporary fix file to address the issue. Apply it into the following directory and remember to backend the original file. Do note that this is not a complete fix so users will not be able to set their editor in the frontend.
