Hello everyone,

I am trying EasyDiscuss on my test site.

I would like to know what exactly the difference between 'forum' and 'category' is.

I Found out how I can create a category but still no clue how to create a forum?
The fact there is one tab for forum and another for category makes me thinking that these must be to different levels (as category as sublevel of forum). But in fact, by clicking on forum tab I see the same (just with a different view) as on by clicking on the category tab.

What Do I miss?

Best regards,

Alp
There are no "forums" in EasyDiscuss. Forums are basically just containers and to create a container, you can just create a category in EasyDiscuss and check the checkbox that says "Use category as container".

Hello,

I am trying to work out how you edit/add categories to the 'Forums' tab. I have created several categories, both as a container and sub-categories to container and posted some tests posting but the only thing showing under the 'forums' tab is the posts that comes with the installation.

How can I select what to display in the 'forums' tab?

Thank you
Kind regards

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Try enable this option from backend > Easydiscuss > settings > layout > forums view > Show Categories With Empty Posts - YES

How can I select what to display in the 'forums' tab?

Currently we do not have a setting to configure which category show on forums page at this point of time.

Hello Arlex,

Sorry, I did not expect a reply before the week, but thank you!

I have some categories set to 'use category as container' and then several sub-categories to the sub-container. As there is nothing posted in the 'container' the sub-categories does not show in the 'forums' page. Is there a way to fix this? The ideal would be to have sticky posts chosen by forum owner to be posted to the 'forums' page, would that be possible?

Kind regards
Lene

Do you mean your current categories structure like that?

ContainerA
|_ subcategory1
|_ subcategory2
|_ SubContainerB
|_ subcategory3
|_ subcategory4

If yes, it will only show the main container on the forums page e.g. Container A. the user have to click inside the subcategory in order to see sub-container on the forums page, you can refer on my attached screenshot below.

Hello Arlex,

I have attached two images. If you have a look at forum-1.jpg, at the bottom you can see it says 4 posts, 2 of them installed with the forum, one I added to a main category for testing (events), and I added one in a subfolder of a container, this one is not showing. You can see the structure in attached forum-2.jpg.

But also, is it possible to control (with for example sticky post) the posts/feed that is showing on the 'forums' page?

Thank you
Kind regards
Lene

Hey Lene,

It would be best if you can start a new thread and provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so I can better have a look?
