I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Looks like Google Chrome is enforcing that a site needs to be on https before allowing the site to request for the current location. I have tested this on my local instance and indeed, it looks like Google is denying such requests unless the site is served over "https"
