At the bottom of the email messages, which are sent by EasyBlog, there is a link to delete the user's personal details from the site. Clicking on the link takes the user to a confirmation page. The confirmation page accepts the email address with no problems. Then, a message is displayed confirming the deletion of the user (Your personal details has been successfully removed from the site.)

However, the user is NOT deleted from the system! Please, advise.
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

We actually can't do that in the Easyblog, this delete user account part should leave it to the Joomla, imagine if the site installed a lot of different extension on the site, and this user only want to delete all his personal data from Easyblog only, when he click on that delete button, he still can able other extension page on the website.

If Easyblog proceed this delete user account functionality, it will caused a lot of issue with other 3rd party extension.

And I believe Joomla already added an option allow user to delete their user account or you can try this 3rd party extension https://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension/site-management/cookie-control/gdpr/ and see how it goes.

Before you use this extension, you have to contact to this extension developer and see whether can allow user to delete their account on the frontend.

Let me get straight...
There is a note at the bottom of some/all EasyBlog email messages saying the following.
"To delete your information from the site, please click here."

However, you are telling me that if a user clicks on it, his/her information will NOT be deleted. Isn't this misleading (and would potentially cause serious legal issues)?

I think the message should be changed to something like the following.
"To unsubscribe from the blogging-related services, e.g. blog writing, commenting, subscriptions, on the site, please click here."

"To delete your information from the site, please click here."

From this sentence doesn't mean that when you click on it, your user account will be automatically deleted on the site.

And when the user click on it, it will send an email to the user ask for confirmation whether he really want to delete his personal details, this will be let user clearly to know this confirmation is only delete his personal details and not delete his account on the site.

If you feel this sentence got misleading to the user, you can override this language translation from your site backend > extension > language > override , override this language constant COM_EB_NOTIFICATION_DELETE_INFO then translate it to "To unsubscribe from the blogging-related services, e.g. blog writing, commenting, subscriptions, on the site, please click here."
