Hey there,

unfortunately my last Amazon S3 thread was closed so I have to make a new thread for an additional question.

I found an option saying 'Delete files after upload" at settings -> remote storage -> Amazon S3. If I set this option to no, I think I could switch back to my local files at any time by setting the remote storage back to 'local', right? I aim for speed, not for space at all so I would like to have a 'going-back-ability' and I think this should do it.

Can we add S3 Frankfurt manually? I am not sure in which file the locations are but perhaps if you tell me, I could implement it myself? Not sure how difficult this might be. :/

I am not sure if you celebrate christmas in your place, but if you do I wish you a merry christmas.
Hey Sabih,

If you set this option to "No", it doesn't transfer the files back Currently we don't have the option to pull back these data from Amazon but we are going to fix this on the next release.

As for Frankfurt, unfortunately right now this isn't possible yet because Frankfurt's node uses a different authentication algorithm and our S3 library does not support that yet

P/S: I would strongly encourage you to leave your data on your current location first. When we add in Frankfurt in the next release, rather than pulling the data back, just create a new container in Frankfurt and copy using Amazon AWS Console

Hey Mark,

thank you for making this clear. I think I will have to wait and be patient.

No problem Sabih, and to even make things worst, the official Amazon S3 SDK requires at least php 5.3.3 and there are still a lot of users who are on Joomla 2.5 because their hosting company are still on 5.2.x

These are the common pitfalls that we face which we eventually have to write everything ourselves and end up wasting a lot of resources simply because these web hoster's are just so irresponsible

Whoa.

I can hardly believe these things that people are still on such old versions of Joomla. I often read it at other forums, crazy...
