Hello,

Please advice how to set "default category by user group".

We have usergroup-A and usergroup-B, for example.
And we need to restrict usergroup-A to post into the category-A . (usergroup-B = category-B)

I've created menu items "(Dashboard) Compose Layout" for each usergroup with each category pre-selected, following your instruction below:
https://stackideas.com/forums/default-category-seeting-redirect-on-login

The thing is... I also need a menu for Quickpost.
But category selection field is missing on menu item configuration.
"Quick Post Module" does not have category selection on its configuration, either.

Is there any solution for pre-selecting the default category of Quickpost by user group?

Thanks,
rikao

Hi there,

Regarding your inquiry
Is there any solution for pre-selecting the default category of Quickpost by user group?
Unfortunately, currently we do not have the feature to pre-select the category in quickpost menu yet . But it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this issues in our voice page -> http://stackideas.com/voices, so everyone else could vote for it, the more people request on this, and we will priority consider it.

Having said that, if you require us to perform the customization for you, you can always request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

Hi Muhammad,

Thanks for your reply. OK, I submitted the feature request on voices.

But here I have one more question.
When composing a blog by clicking the front-end menu of "(Dashboard) Compose Layout" with pre-selected category, the category above the blog title is always default category. (Screenshot attached.)

If I remember correctly, it was properly set to pre-selected category on v5.0.41, but not anymore on v5.0.42.

Will you please check?

Hi Hideto,

The default category can be pre-selected in the backend setting:
1. Click Categories> Star the selected category to make is a default category
refer this: https://www.screencast.com/t/Api9vVbfYv

Hi Muhammad,

As I mentioned in my first post, we need to restrict the category by user group.
Category-A for usergroup-A, Category-B for usergroup-B, and so on.
That's why only one default category does not work for us.

So I created a Compose menu for usergroup-A with Category-A pre-selected.
Also created a Compose menu for usergroup-B with Category-B preselected.

I think when category is pre-selected, the category above the blog title also should be in accordance with the pre-selected category.
Isn't this a bug?

Thanks for your support,

Hello Hideto,

The default category cannot be restricted and should not be restricted. At a single point of time, you are only able to select 1 default category and that default category has to be accessible by all users.

The other categories can be restricted based on their user groups / permissions mapping.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for making you confuse.
Yes, I understand that the default category has to be accessible by all users.

So I've set Category-C as default category which is accessible by all users.

Then I created a menu of "(Dashboard) Compose Layout" with Category-A preselected for usergroup-A.

But this is what happens when clicked the compose menu:
- In the category box on the right, Category-A is checked, and default category is unchecked, which is correct.
- But category dropdown above the blog title box is always set to the default category.
- As a result, unless user changes the dropdown category, the blog is always posted under 2 categories (both Category-A and default category).

(Screenshot attached.)

I'm just wondering if this can be fixed, or it's intentionally designed.

Thanks,

Hello Hideto,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. Hm yeah you are right! I misunderstood your question. If a default category is chosen in the menu parameters, it should be respected.

Will fix this in the next release.
