Is it possible to make a separate language selection with the dropdown?

I have 2 types of profiles and would like to put in a profile type, only certain languages.

Example:

Profile Type 1:
- english
- spanish
- turkish

Profile Type 2:
- english
- Indian
- chinese

Does it work with a drop-down list? When I set as the Unique Key the language string JOOMLA-LANGUAGE.
And in the language choices the ID of any language?
Hi Chris,

Now I use the drop-down box and when the user selects Spanish there, he stays with the English language.

Yup, like i said in my previous reply, if you use dropdown field to record user's language setting, this dropdown field will not reflect user's Joomla language setting

Hope this help

Hi Chris,

If i understand correctly, do you mean you want to create a dropdown custom field to let your user to select their languages? If yes, you can create the dropdown field and insert the languages as the options list. However, the value that your user selected will not reflect their Joomla language setting.

Please correct me if I've misunderstand your question

Hope this help.

Hi Sam,
thank you. Of course, dropdown field. I had not thought.

But a 2-level dropdown, there is not unfortunately. Or?

The best would be a 3-level dropdown. For Country, Region, City.

Is it a lot of work, to make a 2 or 3 level dropdown field?

What is it about me actually. I would like to put an option to select each user. And depending on what he chooses, we Him a specific menu / module appears.

The value can be anything since this dropdown is purely to record user's choice and it did not used in any integration with other extension so its fine to put the language code if you want to

As for the unique key, the default 'Joomla Language' field already using this 'JOOMLA_LANGUAGE' as the key so you might want to chose another key to avoid conflict with your Joomla language field. If your profile type did not assigned with Joomla language field, then its fine to use this key.

Hope this help

Thank you, not really Until now I had the Joomla language and every user was automatically redirected to his language. Now I use the drop-down box and when the user selects Spanish there, he stays with the English language.
