Hello htere at StackIdeas,
I inserted a custom field "Country" in profiles, I created the database with Countries and States.
But now I don't understand how to get "states" in the -multilist- ? just get countries ....
And I don't see any "State" custom field available in addition to "Country".
Could you help ? thanks in anticipation !
Hi Claude,

Currently in EasySocial there is no State custom fields thus if you are adding a Country field, you cant link the country with states.

What you can do is to add an 'Address' field instead. In your Address field configuration, you can configure to not use map and set the requirement to 'country' and 'state' only. Finally, in the display configuration, only display 'country' and 'state'. Please see http://screencast.com/t/ZWAjbCpfuR

Hope this help and have a nice day!

Hi Sam, Thanks for your quick reply.
Unfortunately I am still disapointed by the functioning of these 2 fields 'Country' and 'Address'.

Regarding the 'Country' field :
Problem 1 - First time I made a configuration I used as data source => 'Regions Database' (with the database I started to built). But then, I finally decided to use data source => 'File'. But on frontdesk it is still 'Regions database' that is displayed.. It's just impossible to get the list of 'Country' file back.
Problem 2 - Still don't know how to get the 'States' when I select a country that has States (USA for instance) !? (even if I use my 'Regions database'). Only the country is displayed.

Regarding the 'Address' field :
I did what you mentioned in your reply and I used as data source => 'File'.
On frontdesk I got 2 fields : one (dropdown) with Countries, a second one (textbox) with 'State' as placeholder ... but no dropdown with related states when I choose a Country that has States. Just a regular textbox I would have to fill (see attached picture).

Any solutions/explanations ?
Thanks again for your help !

Hi Claude,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply as now is a weekend for us here

Regarding your country field problem 1, can you pass me your Joomla backend admin access and your ftp account so that I can investigate your issue further?

As for the problem 2, the Country doesn't come with the 'State' option. The country will just list down countries only.

As for the address field, when you choose the source to 'File', and when you selected your country, the state will not be reflected to show states from the selected country. User will need to manually enter the state. So if you really want to show the states based on the selected country, then you have to use the database region as the source in your Address custom fields.

Hope this help and have a nice day!
