I am creating a blog with many authors (over 100) and many categories (over 400) I need advice as to what is the best way to structure the categories and assign users the correct permissions.

Group 1

Most users have very limited permissions, able to log in to front end, no ability to edit joomla articles only able to add/update EB5 articles for their 4 categories.

Group 2

Users still have limited permissions, able to log in to front end, no ability to edit joomla articles but are able to add/update EB5 articles for their 4 categories and other select users categories also. ie User A can update their Categories (What's Happening, Resources, Assignments) as well as update a category that User B, User C and User D can update (announcements) But Users B C and D cannot update user A's Categories (What's Happening, Resources, Assignments)

Group 3

Users still have limited permissions, able to log in to front end, no ability to edit joomla articles but are able to add/update EB5 articles from any Category.

Group 4

Users are, able to log in to front end, and can edit joomla articles and are able to add/update EB5 articles from any Category.... but do not have backend access.

Sorry for the long description I need to set this up right and i am not sure how the joomla user ACl and the EB5 ACL work in conjunction with user groups and team Blogging. If it is easaier I included my site details if you could setup a few as an example I could follow that pattern for the different groups and users.

Thanks,

Ryan
Hey Ryan,

The Joomla "com_content" ACL governs the way users are able to access articles in Joomla and it is in no way related to EasyBlog. However, every users on your site are actually assigned into user groups in Joomla and because of this, you can then edit each of the category that you have on the site and assign custom permissions as you can see from my screen shot here, http://screencast.com/t/Ca2D7kX6aW

So I should add users to their respective joomla groups and then give those groups access to each category. Correct? If a user does not have access to a group are they able to see it as an option or is it grayed out? Also is it possible to create the Categories in bulk IE import from CSV???

Hey Ryan,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as I was a little occupied with tons of meetings earlier today. Yes, that is correct. You need to assign users into the respective groups and configure the category so that these particular groups are allowed to post / read from the category.

Unfortunately right now it's not possible to import categories through CSV
