Hello, good afternoon!

My question is about the “Full Name” field…
For my purposes, username + email would be enough. I don’t need to have “Full Names” and wanted to understand if they are really mandatory, and why. - And if there is any possible way one can make them mandatory no more.

I remember having a little trouble with mandatories “Avatar” and “Cover” as well; what I did was to assign them (as I found no way they would refuse to be present) and then make them invisible - hiding from Registering and Editing. But the Full Name guy… he seemed to have come to stay.

Thank you in advance!
Hello Daniel,

By using mini registration, it is possible to make the real name field as not mandatory but its not possible to make it invisible during registration. By default when you set the real name field as 'not required' from your backend > easysocial > profile type > custom field, the real name will fall back to the username field. http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-03-04_1629.png

After you've set the settings as above, you can hide the real name field via css hack. Unfortunately we are not be able to assist you with the hack since it require a customization on your site.

By the way if you choose to hide the real name field, it will defeat the purpose of social site where people need to know your real name as a prove to your identity. If you think we should implement a setting to hide the real name field you can post your idea at our easysocial voice page, http://stackideas.com/voices/easysocial so that other people can vote

Well, I can think of networks of many kind in which full names would be completely unnecessary.
But thanks for the hack tip, and for the request sugestion.
