Currently group conversations would require users to manually add them one by one just like EasySocial but the group chat idea is pretty cool I think and we could also implement this on the Conversations in EasySocial.

As for the "user is typing ..." functionality, we did thought about adding this into version 1.0 but this process is pretty cpu hungry as it needs to fire massive ajax calls by the second and it might hog the CPU on your site. For instance, any AJAX requests sent to Joomla will cause Joomla to also render plugins and if you have some funky system plugins, it's going to hog your CPU.

Until we can find a better way to do this, we have scraped this idea but definitely this is something we plan to add

I am not sure if you have been around with us from the birth of the company but StackIdeas is unlike other company where they release updates for the sake of providing updates and shut their users mouth.

Whenever we create a major release, we want it to be practical and love-able by our clients. For instance, with 2.1, you'll get this in your conversations, http://imarklee.stackideas.com/cool.mp4 . Through our testing, the conversations is almost live. I say that it is "almost" because it is impossible to have zero latency, even pinging from your computer to your own website has latency. We also measured this heavily and we believe that it would have no compromise over the load of your server's CPU which is what I am extremely happy about =))

With all these API in place (it has to be done correctly and measured by performance of course), ConverseKit would then be able to benefit from all of these.

I had a question about EasySocial 2.2 and the pace of version releases.

EasySocial 2.0 Stable was released in November 2016.
EasySocial 2.1 will likely release early October or November 2017.

For the other extensions, the rhythm is more or less identical.
Apparently there is always about 1 year between each major upgrade.

Does this mean that EasySocial 2.2 will also be released at the end of 2018 ?

We don't have any "rhythm" in releasing major releases but it ultimately depends on what we are including in the major update. The base versions would always take a longer time. Particularly, ES 2.0, EB 5.0, ED 4.0, KT 3.0 because we have removed a lot of unwanted dependencies.

However with EasySocial 2.1, it's a little different though. We could have pushed out EasySocial 2.1 alpha as early as May but we decided to push it back a little further because we want to optimize the installer and the scripts that are included in the extension and also focus on the workflows and custom fields.
