Howdy! I just purchased and downloaded Conversekit to try it out on my forum site, and it seemed to install correctly (no errors), and I followed the instructions to activate the plug in, setting it to public for now (I would like it to only be for registered users once I get it sorted) but I do not get the little floating chat button in on my site.

I have a LOT of stuff running, so I am thinking I probably have something that is conflicting, so hopefully one of you can take a look and let me know what to fix? Or at least give me some guidance to known conflicts.

Thanks in advance!

Gary Bashor
Hi Gary Bashor,

Can you provide us with the FTP access to your site to check further on this issue?

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

Hi Gary Bashor,

Yes, we've temporarily enable error reporting maximum to analyse the main issue for conversekit do not rendered. I've disable back the error reporting now.
As you concern this is live site, can you provide us with your testing site? so we can troubleshoot this without interfere your live site.

The testing site is actually completely different and does not run easysocial. I know that is not the best way to operate a site but it is how I have been doing it.

This is the only site I have operating which uses easysocial.

If it would be helpful, I can take the site offline for my users and let you continue checking. I will do that now.

Hi there,

It seems like your site hit permission error to the js files for Conversekit. As I checked, there are some other plugins hit the same error.

Refer to this error log:
https://monosnap.com/file/jQb7slrHmOcwLi1kDigRaj9RzA8IMA

Could you check about the server setting related to permission for system plugins especially?

Thank you.

Hmmm. I looked in the system settings and all of the folders show as writeable. I am not a wizard at this where exactly am I looking for this?

OK - I went into the server and looked at a number of things. In looking at /plugins/system/conversekit i see the attached. Is this what you are looking for? Thank you.

Unfortunately, I need to head for my other job , so have turned the public site back on. I will be able to readdress this again this evening (I am in Pacific Standard Time, US). Any guidance you can give me is most appreciated.

Hi,

I did alter the permission yesterday for the .js files inside assets folder to this:

drwxr-xr-x (755) - Everyone can read the directory, but its contents can only be changed by the user.

Unfortunately it doesn't help. Are you able to check with your hosting provider regarding the permission issue? I believe they are at liberty to rectify this.

Thank you.

I can, just exactly sure what I need to ask them to do? Which permissions need changing.

Sorry I'm not more skilled with this! Self taught hobbyist!

Perhaps you can enquire about file access rights. The rule their server respect when accessing javascript files.
