I am using Purity 3 with Bootstrap 3, Joomla 3.2.3 and latest versions of all Stackideas products.

The EasyDiscuss theme is set to simplistic and cache with Classic style categories set to yes.

There are 3 issues, 2 of which are for Stackideas:

1. The categories and forum summary threads do not appear when not logged in, is there some default button i cannot see that does not allow the forum to be visible? It always was visible before.

2. The summary main forum layout (when logged in) looks fine with everything in the right place, but when I open any thread the outside box reduces in width and the content in the thread overlaps the outside box boundary on left and right sides.

3. The JCKEditor does not always appear correctly and seems to be in conflict with the JCH Optimize Pro version I installed yesterday, I will take this issue up with them but thought i would mention it here in case it may be an influence on the EasyDiscuss issue.
Hello Richard,

I have made several adjustment on your site by adding this code in your custom.css file.

body div#discuss-wrapper .navbar .btn-navbar {
display:table !important;
}

This is the solution for the first issue.

For the second issue, I have replace some row-fluid to clearfix in several Easydiscuss simplistic theme. This is the second solution for this issue.

For the third issue, I am quite not understand what is the conflict. "JCKEditor does not always appear correctly and seems to be in conflict with the JCH Optimize Pro version". Can you explain more so that we are able to understand this problem and find the feasible solution for this issues.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

Thank you for the corrections, the classic category layout now appears and the detail layout is fine when logged in. They still do not appear when not logged in, is there a yes/no display button in admin that controls if the forum is visible to visitors or not (I am sure there is, I just can't find it)?

Ref the JCKEditor, it was appearing and disappearing for some reason but this is now corrected, the only problem with the editor area now is it is too wide and not in line with the rest of the forum. It is an EasyDiscuss issue as the same problem occurs when I switch to the bbcode editor for questions and replies.

Similar Issues in Toolbar

I switched off the classic categories layout to see what it would look like and noticed there are similar overlap issues with the categories, tags, members, badges and dropdown selections in the toolbar. I will explain each in detail, although the problems being similar may be fixed with one or two code adjustments:

Categories - The Category name is not in line with the forum (too far left) and although the sub-categories are (correctly) ascending in ordered sequence in the main category area, if selected, if a main category is clicked the horizontal layout of sub categories is (incorrectly) descending, so I assume it is set to do the opposite of what it should do at the moment.

Tags - Tags title is not in line with the forum (too far left) and the tags should start and finish in line with the left and right edges of the forum, but the finish is short of the edge.

Members - Title and Search box not in line with the forum (too far left and right respectively) and the member box layout is offline to the left as well. The bottom of the member boxes are not in line because 2 have moderator tags, which will make the next rows wrong as well, they should adjust for content to make the bottom of all boxes appear in line. The member boxes should start and finish in line with the left and right edges of the forum, perhaps they will when the offline to the left is corrected.

Badges - The main titles overlap to the left and right of the forum and the badge boxes should start and finish in line with the left and right edges of the forum but the finish is short of the edge.

Dropdown - the My Badges title and detail text at the bottom is too far left and overlapping the drop down box.

One other question:

Right hand button in the toolbar - What is this, it doesn't do anything?

Hi Mohd,

Thank you for fixing the problems in 'Similar issues in Toolbar' it really is appreciated, especially at the late hour and I hope you were able to get some sleep!

1 Ref the right hand button in toolbar, tomorrow is fine, thank you.

2. Ref the JCKEditor query being same as for bbcode editor box (too wide on left and right), I have switched the forum editor to bbcode to highlight the problem.

3 There was one minor item i missed when checking the toolbar issues, the row of filters is not aligned with the end of the posting boxes (it is too short), normally the right hand edge of the 'latest' box is in line with the right hand edge of the posting boxes.

I have added 3 images of the problems above to make it easier to see what i mean.

Hello Richard,

I am sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately, row of filters is not aligned with the end of the posting boxes issue is not misaligned issue. It is suppose to be like that. Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/r2v6G6Z6dZ .

About the right button on the toolbar, I am sorry because the root problem is from your template. purity_iii. Please consult with your template provider to assist you on this issue.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Hi Richard,

I already inspected your site and I found that there is a conflict of Bootstrap version styling.

If I'm not mistaken, your Joomla template is currently using Bootstrap 3, while our EasyDiscuss component is still on Bootstrap 2.3.

I tried to edit your files via FTP access that given but it seems that we don't have permission to edit the CSS files.

We need you to allow file permission for our support and testing work in the future.

Please advice, thank you and have a good day

Hi Mohd,

Thank you for fixing the size of the reply box, looks fine now and I should have realised the filters line was intended to be that length, sorry about raising that one as an issue.

Ref the toolbar button on the right, I will contact Joomlart about it, the button doesn't seem to be part of the EasyDiscuss action buttons on the toolbar, it is just a button that needs to be removed by them.

Unfortunately the toolbar content now completely disappears when logged in (fine when not logged in) and the other icons in summary post view are all like small email icons (see image), can that be corrected back please?

Hi Ikram,

I was in this thread making my post above before your post appeared and therefore did not notice it, so will reply here:

Yes, it is a Bootstrap 3 template (see initial post) but I am using NoNumber Replacer with their instructions on how to move components from Bootstrap 2.3 to Bootstrap 3 (see their guide here ) so that should allow the Bootstrap 3 classes to be used on EasyDiscuss.

Ref access to files to correct css, the username and password will allow you to change the CSS files (it is the one I always use on Stackideas and has always worked). If you are having a problem via FTP then go through the SiteGround cpanel and it should be fine.

Any queries let me know, you can use our on site IM if you wish as i am logged in now, just click on the box in the bottom right when logged in and click on my icon to begin chat if required.

Hello Richard,

I am so sorry for Ikram's confusion.

I already inspected your site again for 2 conditions, before and after login.

What I noticed here is before and after login use different generated stylesheet.

1. Before: http://www.dealthenuts.com/plugins/system/jch_optimize/assets/gz/1/2539e094d035b89aac1a0321f5147ffb.css
2. After: http://www.dealthenuts.com/plugins/system/jch_optimize/assets/gz/1/581ce06553d94b9df3c25ef87d9467af.css

In which, this selector is missing after we login.
#discuss-wrapper .nav-collapse.collapse {
display: block;
}

I am not to sure how the Joomlart template structure is, but my advice here is you try to purge and recompile again the CSS.

Please advice, thank you

Hi Mohd,

Thank you for looking at this again and the advice, I went into the Purity 3 template area to check all the settings before doing a compile and the problem was with the additional stylesheet option allowed with Purity 3 and everything is fine now.

For reference, in case you are working with Purity 3 or any of the templates using Bootstrap 3 on the Joomlart T3 version 3 Framework, in the admin template area they allow extended styles for menus (see image 1) and adjustments are placed (for Purity 3) in the relevant files in /templates/purity_iii/css/extras (see image 2) but sometimes it is not necessary to add extra style and/or it can conflict with changes in the custom.css at (templates/purity_iii/css/custotm.css in this case).

The easydiscuss extras file had the following code:

#discuss-wrapper .nav-collapse.collapse {
display: block;
}
#discuss-wrapper .nav-collapse.collapse .modal-body .row-fluid {
margin-left: 0;
margin-right: 0;
}

I placed your code (in the post above) in the custom.css file of the template, removed the 'Forum' menu from the EasyDiscuss extra style option in the template admin area (shown in the first image below) so the code in the extras easydiscuss file would be ignored and the blank toolbar as well as 'button at the end' problems disappeared.

Thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated and I will mark the thread resolved.
