Hello,

I’m using EasyBlog component to display 2 types of posts on our site:
• Marketing Posts: http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/sales-support/marketing/advanced-markets
• Blog Posts: http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/blog

Both types of posts have a similar structure in that there are multiple sub-categories … and in many cases, the sub-category names are the same (although the content is different in each section)

• Marketing Post sub-categories include:
Advanced Markets
Sales & Marketing
Underwriting
etc.

• Blog Post sub-categories include:
Advanced Markets - b
Sales & Marketing -b
Underwriting - b
etc. (you’ll notice I added a “-b” at the end of the Blog sub- category names to help analyze issue)

Here’s are the 2 problems we’re having:

We are using the “Easyblog - Categories Module” to offer filtering options on each of the pages (appears in right sidebar). I have 2 modules set up:
1. Specifies all Marketing Post sub-categories (module ID: 1348) and appears on Marketing Page sidebar
2. Specifies all Blog Post sub-categories (module ID: 1376) and appears on the Blog Page sidebar

If you navigate to the Blog page: http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/blog and then select “Advanced Markets-b” from the Categories Module, it should load this page:
http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/blog/categories/advanced-markets-b

but it’s actually going to:
http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/sales-support/marketing/advanced-markets/categories/advanced-markets-b

The second issue is related to the “Easyblog - Featured Articles” module which also appears in the right sidebar of these pages. I have 2 modules set up:
1. Specifies all Latest Marketing Posts (module ID: 1353) and appears on the Marketing Page sidebar
2. Specifies all Latest Blog Posts (module ID: 1378) and appears on the Blog Page sidebar

If you navigate to the Marketing page: http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/sales-support/marketing/advanced-markets and then select an item from the Featured Articles, you’ll notice that it’s loading articles that are from the Blog section, not the Marketing section (as indicated by the category names which include the “-b” as noted above):

I can not figure out why … hoping you can help.

Note: I’m seeing the same issue with the other EasyBlog modules in the sidebar (Featured Articles, Latest Articles, Date) but guessing it’s all interrelated.

Thanks for your help in advance!
Nick
Hello Nick,

it should load this page: http://windsor.cloudaccess.host/blog/categories/advanced-markets-b
- The issue is because you have more than one frontpage menu item http://take.ms/FdDKi6 . I have temporary unpublished those and now the module is pointing to the right URL. If you want to have menu item filtered by category, you can always use Single Category Layout. I have create an example for you here: http://take.ms/TCumo

As for the second issue, it is because you have enabled this option http://take.ms/GOhOz which will only picking up featured post from the site and those categories filter will get ignored.

Hi Nick!

Hello and thanks for your response.

The first answer makes sense!

Still struggling with the second item.

We have two ‘Featured Article’ modules running on the site:

1. Displays “Featured BLOG” content (only appears on Blog pages) [item 1378]
2. Displays “Featured MARKETING” content (only appears on Marketing sub-pages) [item 1353]

Here’s the problem:

If you navigate to the Blog Page (https://windsor2.cloudaccess.host/blog), and then expand the ‘Featured’ module in the right sidebar, it is displaying content from the general MARKETING sub-categories, not the BLOG section.

The module that appears on that page [ID: 1378] is set to display items categorized as:

1. Featured
2. Blog posts (and sub-categories)

But it seems to be pulling the MARKETING posts. Not sure if I set up something incorrectly but would appreciate your help in resolving!

Thanks,
Nick

Hey Nick,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. When the option "Only include featured posts" is activated, http://take.ms/yqGYd , this will cause the module to ignore the category filter and only include featured posts from the site. This is why it is also pulling the marketing posts.

Here's a temporary work around which I have applied, can you download the attached file and upload it into /modules/mod_easybloglatestblogs/ and see if this works for you. If it doesn't, could you please provide us with the FTP access?
