Hi there,

I know that the previous discussion I posted some months ago was locked (http://stackideas.com/forums/confusing-comment-on-discussions). I was still hoping there will be a solution to the problem (basically, remove the 'comment') but the conversation drifted to WYSIWYG editor (I am not sure what is the connection).

Th truth is that my users are still commenting via the 'Comment' option thinking that their comments somehow will be added to the discussion! I am not sure why the team here are not dealing with the issue? It is obviously not thought through when the 'Comment' feature was added.

Is there any chance you could just solve it?
Hello David,

I am really sorry but there's no work around for this currently. We do intend to update EasyDiscuss in the future so that the comments made in EasySocial would be added as a discussion reply in the future.

Dear Mark,

I appreciate that you guys are working extremely hard and I am not in any way trying to put you under pressure. I know that when the time comes you will make it work perfectly. I have no doubt in that! What I am talking about now is as you guys don't have the time now to make it work 'right', that you will acknowledge the current way is confusing and simply disable the 'comment'. That would make people click into the discussion and stop people feeling baffled.

I am not sure why this request is so outlandish. There is obviously an oversight from the team with the best intentions for the future but for now the product has something in it that truly serves no purpose. Holding on to something that serves no purpose (and causes confusion) is probably not a positive thing!

I am not going to post about this again.
Thanks!

Hello David,

There is already a temporary solution which Alex posted here, http://stackideas.com/forums/confusing-comment-on-discussions#reply-156963 . I think this should be able to help you solve this issue temporarily by hiding the comments?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the link you sent. Just to make sure that the code you linked to, will it work for both discussions coming from ES groups and ED itself? As I use both myself.

Also, where do I place the code exactly (newbie)!

Hi David,

You can place below css code at your Joomla template the custom.css file JOOMLA/templates/yoo_organic/css/custom.css

.type-discuss.streamItem.es-stream-full.stream-context-discuss .action-title-comments.streamAction {display:none !important;}

If you still having problem adding the above css code, then maybe you pass me your ftp account and I will add for you

Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam
