Hi -

I run both EasyBlog and K2 on my EasySocial site (for 2 different purposes) - and the fact that EasySocial supports both is a big part of why I chose it!

As for most social sites, it's critical that we include the photo in both the activity stream and user profile integrations in order to drive engagement. However, I'm having opposite problems with photos under the 2 integrating plugins - is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?

1) EasyBlog: Pulls photo into activity stream but does NOT pull "cover photo" into the user's profile app

2) K2: Pulls photo into user's profile app but does NOT pull photo into activity stream.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks,
Cheryl
Hello Cheryl,

Not entirely sure if I understand you here. What do you mean by it not pulling cover photo in the user's profile app eh?

Hi, Mark!

What I mean is that both EasyBlog and K2 should at a minimum display the following information (a) for each item integrated into the activity stream and (b) for each item created by the user, in the "app" displayed on their EasySocial profile:

- Title
- Introtext
- Photo (EasyBlog "cover photo" and K2 image folder)
- Ideally, tags (so that the EasySocial hashtag filters work) and comments

Currently,

a) the EasyBlog app displays the title, introtext, folder, date and comments link in the user's profile for each of the user's blog posts - but photo is missing.

b) on the activity stream, when a new EasyBlog item is created it shows the title, introtext, and photo

c) The K2 user profile app displays the title, photo, folder, date & introtext for each K2 item

d) on the activity stream, when a new K2 item is published it shows the title, introtext - but photo is missing.

You can see the user profile problem at this URL [insert my site name -not clear whether this ticket is still marked public]

mysitename.com/cheryl

I have used a language override to rename "Applications" as "recipes & tips"; use the "Recipes" link to access the K2 user app and use the "Blog" link to access the EasyBlog user app.

In addition, it would make a very big difference for user engagement if the item tags are imported into the EasySocial activity stream along with both the K2 and EasyBlog items, so that they are included within hashtag filters on the site.

To give you an example, my members have shared over 700 recipes tagged "gluten free" into a K2 database on my website, along with at least 100 blog posts tagged "gluten free" - yet if you create a hashtag filter for "gluten-free" in EasySocial it will look like there is no gluten-free activity on the site. This really makes it hard to generate engagement!!

Thanks for your help!
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl,

Are you referring to http://take.ms/wgFz3 ? In order for EasyBlog to display the post cover from EasyBlog, you would first need to set a post cover for the blog post.

That's my point, actually - as you can see from looking at our EasyBlog frontpage, our users have created close to 1000 posts in EasyBlog, nearly all of them with cover photos (and certainly all of mine with cover photos - and that screen shot is for my own account). All of those blog posts have cover photos - in fact, if you click through on "view all blog posts from Cheryl" at the bottom of that screen then you will see all my cover photos are included there - yet none of the blog entries are displaying the cover photos in the user profile. That's my point.

It seems like we missed up to show the post cover on the blog listing page from Easysocial user profile page.

I've applied some temporary fix into this file -> /public_html/media/com_easysocial/apps/user/blog/themes/default/profile/item.php

It should show the post cover now and we will apply the proper fix into the next blog app new version.
