Hi folks,

I just would like to ask you how to be sure I use your latest language file? When I download one of your component, from my stackideas' dashboard, inside the .zip archive are some included english languages files. Are this files allways updated? Because I know you have other files located at transifex and github, so, need I to download the files from transifex, github, or via my stackideas dashboard? By the way, when I go to my backend, in exemple " easysocial backend " I have a button for " update " the french version. How does it work? This button update the french version from Github ? Transifex ? Stackideas official server ?

I have manually translated the latest version for EasyDiscuss, and I wanna do the same for EasySocial, because a lot of strings are currently not translated, how can I share my work with other users ?

Best regards

Yann Anderson
Hey Yann,

Whenever you download from our Languages section, it will retrieve the downloads from Transifex. If you want to assist with our translations, you just need to join our Transifex translators group and upload your translations there

Just another question: as I can see, there is on Transifex some "translated" files (color green) and some "reviewed" files (color blue), so, when I update language file from my joomla backend, are the unreviewed strings downloaded ? Or not?

And there is another probleme in Transifex: I'm not able to view the source-string, sometimes, you write "singular" or "plurial", how can I do to know if the words are singular or plurial ???

No problem Yann. Thanks for getting back to me on this. Please find my response as follows:

Just another question: as I can see, there is on Transifex some "translated" files (color green) and some "reviewed" files (color blue), so, when I update language file from my joomla backend, are the unreviewed strings downloaded ? Or not?

I think you can start with Download file for translate for now and translate. http://take.ms/K17tx . Otherwise, translating online would be less confusing eh? http://take.ms/BU3Z1

And there is another probleme in Transifex: I'm not able to view the source-string, sometimes, you write "singular" or "plurial", how can I do to know if the words are singular or plurial ???

I believe the strings will have both singular and plural? For eg, Entry vs Entries? Do you have a screenshot of it perhaps?

Yes Sylvie, entry vs. entries is easy to understand if it's singular or plurial, but in your language file, there is many strings that look like this :

APP_EVENT_DISCUSSIONS_USER_COMMENTED_ON_USERS_DISCUSSION_PLURAL="{b}%1$s{/b} commented on %2$s's discussion in the event {b}%3$s{/b}."
APP_EVENT_DISCUSSIONS_USER_COMMENTED_ON_USERS_DISCUSSION_SINGULAR="{b}%1$s{/b} commented on %2$s's discussion in the event {b}%3$s{/b}."

And in this case, if we have not the total string under our eyes, it's not possible to know if it's plurial or singular, and tone and tone of your strings look like this,... in Transifex, the uppercase letters are not displayed... So, how can we know if it's singular or plurial when all words write with the same letters based on english version ?

Hum, I just discover now a "CASE" where "key" is writted, so I'm able to check in this case (in this box) if it's singular or plurial...

Hi Yann,

I'm not too sure whether i understand you here and i don't speak French, so i'm too sure whether French wording has singular/plural system. But i think you can treat it as singular unless there's a difference from the plural? Eg: User A commented on User B's discussion vs User A commented on User B's discussions?

Yes, but what I say is --> take a look to the 2 examples -->

1) %1$s commented on User %2$s's discussion (plural)

2) %1$s commented on User %2$s's discussion (singular)

On the first example, %1$s is plural
On the second example, %1$s is singular.

No ? Maybee I'm wrong, but if I understand you correctly , %1$s indicate "users" or "user", but the others words are the same in english, but change in french, exemple:

1) %1$s ont commenté la discussion de %2$s (plural)
2) %1$s a commenté la discussion de %2$s (singular)

So, I try to explain that -->

1) SEVERAL users commented on the discussion of a user
2) ONLY ONE user commented on the discussion of a user

This is how work your strings, no ? If yes, it's not possible to know if it's singular or plurial if we dont have the totallity of the strings... But I saw the case in Transifex that display ALL THE TOTAL STRING, so, it's finally possible to translate it correctly using plural/singular system

Hi Yann,

Were you referring to something like this http://take.ms/xufov ? I believe Transifex used to have language constants previously. It seems translating the download files would be more straightforward now.

Yes, and links are difficult to edit... In my case, I will continus to translate it via my php editor, I this it's more easy for me... Especially because links are difficult to copy/paste, and not easy to see when it's plural vs. singular.

Thank you for your answers and your time Sylvie !

Hey Yann,

Hm, to be honest I never liked Transifex because the user experience is absolutely a nightmare! Not only for the translators but for the management area as well. Not to mention we are charged massive amount of money to use their service =(((

Unfortunately most of our translators are more comfortable with Transifex and this is why we had to stick with Transifex.

I personally would recommend that you modify the language file using your favorite editor, and once you are done, just upload it via Transifex. It's so much easier and handy.

Hi Mark,

I think 1000% like you, after more than 1 hour playing with Transifex, I finally choose to use my .php editor, it's better for me.

And for the next release of EasySocial, (or EasyDiscuss and Conversekit, this is the Stackideas Products I use), I will download the .zip file from my Stackideas Dashboard, open english languages files, compare files (previous version vs. current version) using WINMERGE (free software for compare files) then I will be able to see if there is some changes or updates in your english files and finally updates the french files too :-)

Wish you a nice day!

Best Regards from Switzerland

Hi talented folks,

After approximatly 10 liters of coffee, 40 hours of work, I have fully translated in french EasyDiscuss v_4.1.3 and EasySocial v_2.2.3

You can see attached picture 1 / 2 / 3 and 4.jpg, my Joomla backend with the old percentage of traduction and the new current transifex percentage (100%)

By the way, I have attached this file to this answer.

I don't used transifex for do it, because transifex is a nightmare for translating...

Let me know if there is any probleme with this files.

I use it (of cours) for my own site http://www.yannanderson.com

Best Regards from Switzerland,

Yann Anderson

Hi Yann,

Thanks for getting back to us on this, and we couldn't agree more. Transifex is not easy to maneuver around, even for us. Yes, i could see the files that you translated has completed as shown http://take.ms/OLOhp however there are still untranslated stings available as shown here http://take.ms/2MmLD , the back-end will reflect the overall completion as shown http://take.ms/WvKf6 therefore i believe its reflecting correctly at the back-end. Also, it works the same for EasyDiscuss as well, as shown http://take.ms/GFFIt , the overall translation hasn't complete yet. Am i missing anything here?

Hi Sylvie,

Sorry, I'm confused, when I say "I have fully translated EasySocial and EasyDiscuss", I speak ONLY about the main file (the component file), I haven't translated any modules yet, I will try to do it, but it will take me a lot of time, and I can't promise you I can do it before the end of the year, maybee I need to wait the christmas holidays for do it :-)

But actually, what I can promise you, I will continue translating files (main files) when you make updates in easysocial and easydiscuss and converskit

Note: if I see correctly, some modules are missing: example, for easysocial, there is a new module "hashtags" (en-GB.mod_easysocial_hashtags.ini) but I don't see it on transifex (in the french part of transifex) , so, how does it work? YOU need to upload the file? Or you want that YOUR TRANSLATORS do it? Of cours, I can copy/past the english file of this module, rename it, translate it, and finally upload it to Transifex, I think it work like this ? If yes, in this case, I need to ensure that all modules-languages-files are uploaded to transifex :-)

Hi Yann,

I'm sorry for the confusion caused. Yes, the number % actually reflects the overall translation on Transifex which included the modules strings as mentioned on my previous reply. As for the module en-GB.mod_easysocial_hashtags.ini hasn't been pushed to Transifex server just yet, we will update it soon.

Hi Friends,

I see any other language file missing on transifex. By the way, all EasySocial modules are now translated in french. Finally, I can say:

EasyDiscuss component + modules fully translated (only backend is not translated) in french
EasySocial component + modules fully translated (only backend is not translated) in french

Now, time for me to have a little break and holidays

Best Regards,

Yann Anderson

Hello Friends,

I have fully translated the frontend of Komento (latest version). But I can't see on Transifex the modules of Komento --> as I can see in your latest version, only two modules exist:

1) en-EN.mod_komento_activities.ini
2) en-EN.mod_komento_comments.ini

Is it true? You currently have only two modules? In this case, can you add it on Transifex? Then I can upload:

1) fr-FR.mod_komento_activities.ini
2) fr-FR.mod_komento_comments.ini
